Northwestern Memorial Foundation Mission
Northwestern Memorial Foundation raises funds to support the mission
and strategic goals of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Through fundraising,
grantmaking and stewardship, the foundation perpetuates the hospital’s
dedication to clinical innovation, scientific discovery and improving the
health of our community.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital Mission
Northwestern Memorial Hospital is an academic medical center where
the patient comes first. We are an organization of caregivers who aspire to
consistently high standards of quality, cost-effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
We seek to improve the health of the communities we serve by delivering a
broad range of services with sensitivity to the individual needs of our patients
and their families. We are bonded in an essential academic and service
relationship with the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University.
The quality of our services is enhanced through their integration with education
and research in an environment that encourages excellence of practice, critical
inquiry and learning.

The Best Care Begins With Us • We Make a Difference
Giving Made Easy
By going to our special campaign Web
site, you can arrange to give a one-time
gift, recurring gift or deduction from
your bi-weekly paycheck.

visit foundation.nmh.org/BestCare.
Save the Date
For the second year, Northwestern Memorial will organize
volunteers to participate in the Chicago Cares Serve-a-thon
event on June 13, 2009. More than 8,000 volunteers from
hundreds of companies will work together to complete
community service projects citywide. Watch your e-mail
this spring for information on how to participate.
Please help us reach our goal of providing
300 volunteers in 2009.
Why Should I Give?
Charitable gifts help support hospital and program operations
at Northwestern Memorial. They assist in generating the
necessary funding for facilities, equipment and programs.
Your support of the employee campaign,
whether through money or time,
will help to ensure that
Northwestern Memorial continues
to deliver the finest patient care
and that employees and members
of the community receive essential
services and assistance.
”Providing information technology support
for the hospital gives me the opportunity
to meet many different people and really
see how the hospital works. I donate
because I believe supporting our Best
People results in the best patient care.“

A Place Where Everything Matters
As Northwestern Memorial employees, you make a
difference in the lives of patients in many ways, every
day. Whether you work directly with patients or provide
services that support patient care, your dedication makes
Northwestern Memorial unique.
For the past three years, this dedica-
tion has been evident in your support
of “The Best Care Begins With Us,”
the annual employee campaign.
As a nonprofit organization,
Northwestern Memorial greatly
depends on charitable gifts to
develop and maintain the innovative
programs and services valued by
patients and their families. The extra
steps taken to provide the best care
and service is a part of what distinguishes
Northwestern Memorial as Chicago’s
“most preferred” hospital.
We hope you will participate in the
2009 employee campaign. Once again,
you will have the opportunity to help
by supporting a variety of initiatives
that benefit employees, patients and
the community through a donation
or volunteer activities.
This year, as part of our organization’s “go green”
efforts, we encourage you to donate online at
foundation.nmh.org/BestCare. The Web site offers
details on funding areas as well as the many ways your
past donations have made a difference.
