2. Genre:
The genre of my magazine is going to be pop, I have
chosen to do pop as I think it will be a good magazine to
create as it will have loads of bright colours and it has a
really big target audience as it is aimed at young females
and they all buy similar things like what their friends buy.
3. Age/Gender:
The age of my target audience will be around 12-14 years
old, I think this because stereotypically younger people
like pop. Younger people like pop music because there are
people that they enjoy looking at even if they don’t like
the song it is mostly girls as well as they like to look at
males performing as which they find attractive or they
like to watch people who they look up to as a role model.
The most important thing for girls of this age is wanting to
look older than they actually are therefore if they are 12
they want to look more 14 and if they are 14 they want to
look more like 16 so they would want the magazine to be
interesting but mature as well.
4. How do they generate their
income?
As the target audience is so young the mostly likely won’t
be earning any money yet unless they have a paper round.
Therefore most of their income will be from their parents
or grandparents. Which will be most likely earning a
decent amount of money or good enough to be able to
afford a magazine for their children.
5. Interests:
The young people which buy the magazine will most likely
have similar interests as they will like the celebrities
involved in the magazines on a poster etc. They would
also be interested in the information on the inside
because it could be to with what concerts are in the area
and what times and dates they are on. They would also be
interested in the fashion tips on the inside to see what
type of things are in trend so what type of things they
should start wearing to look similar to their idols and so
they look more mature.
6. Price:
I think that because it would be the parents/guardians
paying for the magazine this gives opportunity to charge
more as parents/guardians are willing to pay a higher
amount if it keeps their children entertained for an
amount of time. Whereas, if it was a teenager paying for
their own magazine they wouldn’t be willing to pay a
quite high amount as it would be from their own income.
7. Wealth:
The target audience’s wealth determines whether they
will buy the magazine or not as I think that people which
are very well paid wouldn’t want their children reading
pop magazines as they don’t want their children looking
older they want them to be young still and aspire to be
something which is a well paid job too and more
education. Whereas people who are earning a good
amount of money but not as much wouldn’t mind if their
child reads magazines like pop as it is what they enjoy as
is not what is being forced upon them.
8. Styles:
The kind of styles that the target audience would wear
would be similar to what are being worn on the models
inside the magazine because this is what is in trend so it
will make people follow them and want to buy similar
clothes.
