LO: To write a PEE assessment
addressing who is to blame for the
tragedy of Romeo and Juliet
Expected Learning Outcomes:
all pupils? some pupils? a few pupils?
All pupils will be able to address the
question ‘who is to blame for the tragedy in
Romeo and Juliet?’.Students are going to
write at least 3 PEE paragraphs and a
conclusion.
Opportunities for Assessment:
Formative & summative
Formative
 Going through PEE sample paragraph – students will be given a sample PEE paragraph
and asked to identify what is good aboutit. They will be shown a ‘level’checklistand can
highlightwhat it adheres to. This will show them what is expected and what I expect
 Targets – teacher will go through 5 targets with the students that they write at the top of
their assessment
 Assessmentwrite-up – students will write their PEE assessmentusing the quotes that
they have found themselves.
Cognitive challenges:
Desirable difficulties for all abilities; how will students progress?
Writing their assessment – they have been given sufficient time to prepare for
the assessment and taken books home to find more quotes. They will also be
shown a sample paragraph and have to identify why it is a quality answer.
EBT strategies:
e.g. APK, reciprocal teaching, collaborative learning, advance & visual organisers,
similarities and differences, goals, repetition and practice, meta-cognition, feedback,
cognitive challenge, subject knowledge, summaries and note-taking

8NE Assessment Write-up 26.5.2016

Lesson Plan pro forma Class: 8NE (mixed ability sets) indicate levels of attainment Date: 26.5.2016 Time: 12:20 – 13:25 No. of pupils: 28 Unit /SoW: Romeo & Juliet Shakespeare Unit Key Learning Goals: ref. to exam board criteria/NC as appropriate Shakespeare - reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, including in particular whole books, short stories, poems and plays with a wide coverage of genres, historical periods, forms and authors. … in pupil-friendly format: LO: To write a PEE assessment addressing who is to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Expected Learning Outcomes: all pupils? some pupils? a few pupils? All pupils will be able to address the question ‘who is to blame for the tragedy in Romeo and Juliet?’.Students are going to write at least 3 PEE paragraphs and a conclusion. Opportunities for Assessment: Formative & summative Formative  Going through PEE sample paragraph – students will be given a sample PEE paragraph and asked to identify what is good aboutit. They will be shown a ‘level’checklistand can highlightwhat it adheres to. This will show them what is expected and what I expect  Targets – teacher will go through 5 targets with the students that they write at the top of their assessment  Assessmentwrite-up – students will write their PEE assessmentusing the quotes that they have found themselves. Cognitive challenges: Desirable difficulties for all abilities; how will students progress? Writing their assessment – they have been given sufficient time to prepare for the assessment and taken books home to find more quotes. They will also be shown a sample paragraph and have to identify why it is a quality answer. EBT strategies: e.g. APK, reciprocal teaching, collaborative learning, advance & visual organisers, similarities and differences, goals, repetition and practice, meta-cognition, feedback, cognitive challenge, subject knowledge, summaries and note-taking Key Terminology:  Romeo & Juliet  William Shakespeare  Tragedy Resources:  Romeo and Juliet books  Blank A4 sheets of paper
