• The OET–Occupational English Test is an English language test

working in medical streams.

5. STRUCTURE OF THE TEST
Through the OET training, one can get assessed through the four
modules of the English language –
• Listening
• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking
considering communication in medical and health professional
settings.

6. Exam Pattern
OET Listening Subtest
• Part A
– There will be consultation conversations.
• Part B
– This will include 6 short dialogues, there will be multiple-
choice questions to answer.
• In Part C
– In this you will hear two long presentations or interviews
(monologue), there will be multiple-choice questions to
answer.

7. Exam Pattern Cont.
OET Reading Subtest (60 min)
• Part A (15 min)
A candidate will receive the 4 short texts on a particular
topic (20 questions to answer)
• Part B & C (45 Min) Total 22 Questions
This part will have new SIX different short paragraphs of
varied length. (6 MCQ’s )
• Part C
Will be two different extracts related to research
topics ( 16 MCQ’s )

Writing subtests:
• Duration : 45 Min ( 5 min to read the question and 40 min to
complete the task)
• Word limit : 180 - 200 words
• Letter pattern
– Discharge letter
– Referral letter
– Transfer letter

9. Exam Pattern Cont.
Speaking subtests:
• Duration : 20 min
• Start with warmup session (3-4 min)
• Followed by 2 role play cards ( based on healthcare related
scenario)
• Preparation time 3 Min ( Each role play)
• 5 min to deliver the conversation
