I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. draw a symbol about their analysis/interpretation of literary text in Europe.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation and Visual Aids
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
A student will be requested to lead the prayer.
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
The students will simply look at their seatmates to check if there are absentees.
5. Setting of Classroom Standards
The teacher will post pictures of celebrities at the board and the students will relate it to
their classroom standards.

2. Is being ambitious a bad thing? When does ambition become a bad thing?
3. What are the signs that someone is materialistic?
D. Abstraction
1. What was Madame Loisel’s flaw?
2. What kind of life did Madame Loisel wants?
3. Why is Madame unhappy with her life at the beginning of the story?
4. Does Mathilde Loisel deserve the punishment she received?
5. Would you live the same life as Mathilde?
6. Who are the characters in the story?
7. What is the theme of the story?
8. What is the point of view of the story?
9. What is the climax of the story?
E. Application
The teacher will group the students into three. Present a your lesson/realization
of the story “The Necklace”. Choose among the ff:
 Reporting
 Talk show
 Comedy show
