Professional development - using Elluminate / Blackboard Collaborate Application Share for demonstrations and interaction. The virtual room interface is changing with  BbCollaborate11. Some functions are accessed differently. However content & “how to” processes are essentially the same.

For App Share you don’t need to be a moderator! I usually use “Host Apps” because this lets me share just a region. ,[object Object]
I don’t risk accidentally sharing email or other private info
Less bandwidth heavy than other optionsThis enables more efficient management of the share by Elluminate
This shares your entire screen & anything on it eg Elluminate, open email etc This shares a specific application. Open the App & preferably any files you want to share BEFORE you start the share.
Sharing a region Use for demos Shares selected area Less resource heavy than full desktop share All data goes to host servers & back so takes time to appear on all screens  Need accurate sizing Can be accidentally covered
Some App Share activities with students. Go through work with student Demo their CE8 course Demo an App eg Word Collaborate  on a task Students share their own apps to demo Coaching student through an activity Show them “how” using their desktop  Solve an Ellum problem for them Demo then give student control to perform task Assess student use of an App eg Word
What could YOU do with YOUR students

You can give control of your share to a student  You can ask for control of a student’s share, or of their whole desktop – they must approve these!
To give and take control & work in shared apps Click on the participant name to highlight Choose the option you want Follow the dialogue boxes to agree The App Share border will be pink to show control If someone is controlling your share DON’T touch the mouse To regain control use “Ctrl” Space
Compare with Web Tour which:  Takes audience to a particular website Uses participant’s own browser Allows people to explore at their own pace within a site  Tick “TourGuide” to guide through a site &/or to bring all back to same page as you Can’t be used on password protected sites

Application Share for Teaching & Learning in Elluminate / Blackboard Collaborate

  • 1. Professional development - using Elluminate / Blackboard Collaborate Application Share for demonstrations and interaction. The virtual room interface is changing with BbCollaborate11. Some functions are accessed differently. However content & “how to” processes are essentially the same.

  • 13. This shares your entire screen & anything on it eg Elluminate, open email etc This shares a specific application. Open the App & preferably any files you want to share BEFORE you start the share.

To give and take control & work in shared apps Click on the participant name to highlight Choose the option you want Follow the dialogue boxes to agree The App Share border will be pink to show control If someone is controlling your share DON’T touch the mouse To regain control use “Ctrl” Space
  • 21. Compare with Web Tour which: Takes audience to a particular website Uses participant’s own browser Allows people to explore at their own pace within a site Tick “TourGuide” to guide through a site &/or to bring all back to same page as you Can’t be used on password protected sites
