3. Three phases of romantic relationship
1. Discovery of interest- through socialization with potential romantic partner.
2. dating- is very common among adloescents. It is usually done as a way to get to know
each other. Moreover, dating may be seen as a form of establishing emotional and
behavioral autonomy from parents. Dating as a form of courtship and of getting to know
one another, is usually followed by the teenagers may start to become engaged in
relationship where they promise to be with one another through thick and thin.
3. commitment- or the stage where adolescents think about survival and growth in their
relationship
4. Over the years social psychologist have investigated love and how intimate and loving
relationships work (Dion and Dion, 1988, cited by Sutton and Douglas, 2013). Love is often
described as something that is mysterious, a powerful feeling that allows you to sacrifice
your own happiness for the sake of others.
