1. Hi, class! Did you know that Earth Day was first
celebrated on 22 April 1970? From that day, Earth
Day is celebrated all over the world. Are you aware
that I AM in DANGER? Think about all the small
things you can and should do to save me!! But can
you still remember why I am so important to human
beings?

However, I´m becoming very sick day after day! Can you
identify some of the threats I have to face every day?

2. Can you match the Environmental threats
on the left with its definitions on the
right? Don’t forget to label the pictures.
a) A species of plant or animal that is in danger
of becoming extinct.
b) The cutting down of trees in a large area
which leads to the destruction of rainforests.
c) Layer of air high above the Earth, which
prevents harmful ultraviolet light from the
sun from reaching the Earth.
d) The presence of artificial substances such as
gas, dust, smokes in the atmospheric
environment that affects human health.
e) Gradual increase in the temperature caused
by gases which prevent heat escaping into
space.

area which leads to the depletion of natural
resources and to the Environment

g) Contamination of the water in rivers and lakes
with harmful substances as a consequence of
human activities.
