alternative for developing solutions on
food security, climate change, global
warming, social and environmental
crisis context. Permaculture offers a
better solutions to overcome above-

Rainwater harvesting is collecting the
run-off water from a structure or other
impervious surface in order to store it
for later use.Traditionally, this involves
harvesting the rain from a roof. The rain
will be collected in gutters that channel
the water into downspouts and then
into some sort of storage vessel.
Rainwater collection systems can be as
simple as collecting water in a rain
barrel or as elaborate as harvesting
rainwater into large cisterns to supply
your entire household demand. Green
Africa foundation’s priority is to create
a n d b u i l d f o o d g a r d e n s a n d
environmental greening projects. The
foundation specializes in rainwater
harvesting, installation of water tanks,
booster pumps and appropriate
irrigation systems.

Green Africa Foundation facilitates
several corporate volunteering events
throughout South Africa. In Sept 2015,
Central property Development
employees ploughed back by volunteering
at Bombeni Women Shelter in Far East
Bank, Alexandra,Gauteng Province.
This was the first time Central property.
Development employees were out there
involved in sustainable organic food
gardening and environmental greening
activities in the community.
The employees were extremely excited
about working in the garden– involved in
preparing soil,garden layout & design,bed
preparation. The groups had to rotate in
order for the participants to learn all
aspects of the practical that took place
during the volunteer day, then after the
rotation the whole group had employed
community members.
