Just like any fast-paced, full-contact sport,
soccer has its own share of physical
dangers. Thankfully, there are a number
of ways to avoid injuries. Here are some
of them. John Eilermann.
Warm-ups and stretches
Even the most basic warm-up and stretch
routine will signi cantly lower the
chances of injuries. Warm-ups and
stretches are important because they

Strengthen the hamstrings
Making hamstring muscles stronger (at
least 70 percent of the strength of the
quads) can lower the risk of ACL tears.
But how does one strengthen the
hamstrings? Through exercise. Deadlifts
and hamstring curls are often done by
soccer players to make their hamstrings
as strong as their quads. John Eilermann.
Strengthen the upper body
By fortifying the upper body, soccer
players become less prone to being
knocked around by other players.
Remember that soccer is quite a physical
game, and those with weak upper body
strength will be at a disadvantage. Having
said that, players always need to develop
their core as well. John Eilermann.
Stay in front of players
It has been known that many of the
injuries in soccer happen when opposing
players are at their sides. While injuries
happen from tackles from behind, these
are uncommon. Staying in front of
players once beaten lowers the chances
of injury as well.
