Russia Population 2013
The current population of the Russian Federation is about 143 million, which is a 0.4%
increase from the population in 2010. The population hit its peak in about 1992 around
148.7 million people and then decreased until 2009-2010
Based on the total land area of the country and the total population, the population
density of the Russian Federation is about 21.5 people per square mile.
Victory Day is the most celebrated and loved holiday of Russia, remembering all of the soldiers
that died in World War II. This day, Victory Day, is held on May 9th.
Russia Day, June 12th, celebrates when the Declaration of the Sovereignty of the Russian
Federation was accepted in 1991.
Lastly, November 4th celebrates Civil Unity Day, which is the day celebrating Moscow’s
liberation from the Polish armies in 1612.

The Turkmens are an ancient Turkic people
The Turkmen are an ancient Turkic people, currently making up 67% (more than 6
million people) of the Turkmenistan’s population. In addition, the Turkmen live in Iran,
Afghanistan and Russia.
By their anthropological appearance, the Turkmen are notable for large stature, oblong
shape of the head, narrow face, a rather high forehead, relatively dark shade of hair, eyes
and complexion. Mongoloid features are insignificant.
Most of the Turksmen believe that they are the descendants of Oguz Khan. Since the
Oguzs, penetrated in large numbers in the boarders of Turkmenistan in the IX - XI
centuries.
According to the census of 2001 the population of Turkmenistan amounted to 4,603,200
people. Average population density is 9.43 people per square meter.
National currency of Turkmenistan is Turkmen manat.

Mongolia – The Land of Genghis Khan
Mongolia is a landlocked country, located in Northern Asia, between China and Russia.
With a total surface of 603,909 square miles, Mongolia is the 19th largest state in the
world.
The whole Mongol population numbers approximately 3.2 million people, making it the
135th most populous nation on Earth, according to a 2013 estimated provided by CIA
World Factbook.

Brief History of Mongolia
The north Asian country was famous in the 13th century when Genghis Khan unified
Mongol and Turkic tribes of historical Mongolia under the huge Mongol Empire.
In the 14th century, the states broke apart and the Mongol’s returned to their steppe
homelands.
Mongolia came under a foreign rule China in the 17th century, but won its independence
in 1921 with help from the Soviet, which brought a communist regime starting 1924.
Today, Mongolia, is ruled by President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj and Prime Minister
Norovyn Altankhuyag.
