Engage in the 2nd Digital Revolution. Don’t miss out on the digital wave!
PortExpertise presented at #SIL2018 #MedaLogistics18 + #MEDAports18 summit by ASCAME (Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce & Industry)
Don’t reinvent the wheel – make use of existing capabilities:
no unit in the supply chain creates “islands of data”!
Capture data at the source for use throughout the value chain.
Coordinate, collaborate and connect at enterprise (supply/ValueChain), national (Spain), regional (wider Mediterranean) and at cross-border EU+ level (TEN-T – MoS – ERTMS – PoF - BRI).
Identify how CEF funding recommendations and the EU MMlogisticsPlatform guidelines can facilitate your contribution in establishing connected ports and logistics within the H2020/HorizonEU TEN-T corridors and towards Port of the Futures (COREALIS).
Build CAPACITIES & BLOCKS now, which will be incorporated in a Cooperative Innovative Transportation Network, in the coming years.
Recognize the potentials of IoT, Blockchain, single-window, e-CMR, drones, autonomous vehicles/equipment, Digital Network Solutions, Federative & Cooperative Networks, …
Be ready for the 2nd digital revolution!
Blockchain and the missing piece: Trusted Network Environment & Legal Framework
A federated architecture needs global standards to create data interoperability with multiple carrier, multiple cargo community systems, multiple e-government and customs single-window environments, multiple data-pipeline, IoT and blockchain digital communities, to enable multi/synchro-modal capabilities.
Blockchain is destined to change the face of the transport/shipping world, dematerializing the entire documents chain, creating opportunities for businesses to collaborate in new ways, where nobody challenges the legitimacy of the transfers.
Blockchain solutions and standards will become a coherent network, ready to be deployed, with a multitude of initiatives already available: from chaos to linking up realising interoperability.
However, a solution for governance is required: need for a neutral trusted secure environment (organization / legal framework) which decides and monitors/audits who is admitted to the 'circle of trust'

21. EU Commission 3th Clean Mobility Package
national authorities to accept information presented
electronically by transport companies, provided it complies with
requirements ensuring authenticity, integrity and security
policy objectives:
1. ensure the establishment, in all EU Member States,
of the obligation of acceptance of electronic freight
documents/info by all relevant public authorities
2. ensure that the authorities implement the obligation
of acceptance in a uniform matter
3. ensure the interoperability of the IT systems and
solutions used for the electronic exchange of freight
transport information, and in particular for
business-to-administration (B2A) regulatory info.
industry savings:
• 20-27 billion over 2018-2040
• reduction in administrative costs equivalent to 75-102 million hours/yearly
• Road transport operators (99% are SMEs) 60% of administrative costs saving
• Environmental impact is expected to an equivalent of 180-900 thousand trees annually.

25. no unit in the supply chain creates
“islands of data”
creating opportunities for businesses to collaborate in new ways
Blockchain is structured in a decentralized and distributed nature, that
continuously validate each transaction between all parties and sequentially
record those in public “blocks”. The created reference codes allow each node in
the network to have access to transactions to which they are authorized to refer.
Establishing trust, secured data provision, visibility, networking,
and integration of supply chain elements and actors.
