GAS TURBINE GENERATION:
• A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a type of internal
combustion engine.
• It has an upstream rotating compressor coupled to a downstream
turbine, and a combustion chamber in between.
• The basic operation of the gas turbine is similar to that of the steam power
plant except that natural gas is used as fuel.
• Gas Turbine’s follow Brayton Cycle.

1. Fuel Storage Area- From gas supply terminal
stored fuel near plant for conditioning to
ambient condition.
2. Gas Booster Compressor- Increases pressure
and temp of gas before being sent to turbine.
3. Air Filter- Filters intake air before sent to
compressor.

9) Condenser-
Collects exhaust steam from turbine and
condenses it.
10) Condensate Extraction Pump-
It pumps condensed water back to boiler
feed water storage.
11) Cooling Tower-
Cools condensed water collected in hotwell

12) Feed Water System:
Circulates water back from feed water collector to
boiler.
i. De-aerator: Oxygen present in water is
removed here, thus preventing corrosion.
ii.Boiler Feed pump: Water from feed water
storage tank is again pumped up to boiler.
All of the above system continues till the plant runs.
