Anahata
(Heart Chakra)

2. Anahata The basic task and function of Anahata
chakra is to love and be loved. In its highest
aspect anahata is the very seat of
consciousness itself. This is the spiritual
heart, which enables the consciousness of
the individual to transcend the general
survival and egoic instincts of first three
chakras. This center is the seat of empathy,
compassion, sadness, grief, and kindness
towards self and others.

3. Anahata
Traumas which affect the heart are loss of loved ones,
rejection, unacknowledged grief, shaming and criticism, and
abandonment. The heart is seen as the mother of the other
chakras, so an abuse or trauma in any of the other centers
directly impacts the anahata. In an excessive imbalance, an
individual may exhibit propensities towards jealousy,
codependency, over generosity, enabling, enmeshment and
being overly dramatic. An individual with a deficient
condition may exhibit emotional coldness, lack of empathy,
be highly judgmental and critical of others, prone to
depression, antisocial behavior, loneliness and isolationism.

4. Anahata The transpersonal capacity of the heart is an
unconditional love and compassion for all
beings. It is not a love devoid of
discrimination, but one which ultimately
recognizes the inherent sacredness of all life.
In addition, one experiences clairsentience, in
which touch, whether physical or energetic,
grants understanding of that which is being
touched, whether it be a person, an animal, a
tree, or an environment.

5. Anahata
Affirmation: I am worthy of love. I totally forgive myself and others. I love myself.
Healing Practices: Laying in the grass, Lighting green candles, Sitting outside,
Feeling the breeze on your skin.
Crystal Therapy: Rose Quartz, Jade, Emerald, Chrysoprase.
Nutrition: Any green food, Leafy vegetables, Warm foods.
Aromatherapy: Angelica, Sandalwood, Lavender, Jasmine.

6. Anahata Yoga Poses
Cobra (Bhujangasana)
Intended to broaden the
chest area through breath,
and open the heart
chakra. It promotes spinal
strength and invigorates
the circulatory system.
Cow Face (Gomukhasana)
Like cobra, cow face pose
strengthens the spine and
stretches the arms,
shoulders, and hips opening
the chest and heart chakra.
Eagle (Garudasana)
The arm and leg positions
that make up eagle pose
not only build strength and
balance, but also open the
fourth chakra.
Camel (Ustrasana)
This backbend asana
strengthens the lower
back, thighs, and legs
while opening and
invigorating the heart
chakra.

7. Anahata Yoga Poses
Fish (Matsyasana)
A tremendous pose for
improving spinal flexibility and
strengthening the back, you
might want to use a bolster for
this one. When practiced
correctly, fish pose expands
the chest cavity to allow the
Anahata chakra room to fully
open.
Cat (Marjaryasana)
Cat pose is a great way to
release back tension that may
be keeping your heart chakra
from opening.
Upward-facing Dog (Urdhva
Mukha Svanasana)
As it strengthens the spine,
upward-facing dog also
stretches the lungs and chest
to open the fourth chakra.
