• A crop is
any cultivated plant, fungus,
or alga that
is harvested for food, clothing, live
stock fodder, biofuel medicine, or
other uses.
• Major crops include sugarcane,
pumpkin, maize (corn), wheat, rice,
cassava, soybeans, hay, potatoes
and cotton
• FOOD CROPS
• CASH CROPS
• INDUSTRIAL CROPS
• Food crops are any plants
intentionally grown with the
primary purpose of being eaten by
humans or animals.
• There are two basic criteria that
differentiate food crops from other
plants. The first is that a person
must intentionally plant and/or
care for them and the second is
that they must be primarily used
for food. Both of these factors are
absolute requirements for the term.
• Food crops
There are hundreds of different crops grown for food around the world.
Most belong to the Plant Division Angiospermae (also known as
Anthophyta) which is commonly known as "the flowering plants". Here's a
link that briefly describes some of the important features that can be used to
distinguish members of this group.

• A cash crop is an agricultural crop
which is grown for sale to return a
profit. It is typically purchased by
parties separate from a farm. The
term cash crop is applied exclusively
to the agricultural production of
plants.
• Prices for major cash crops are set in
commodity markets with global
scope, with some local variation
(termed as "basis") based on freight
costs and local supply and demand
balance.
• An industrial crop is a crop grown to produce goods to
be used in the production sector, rather than food for
consumption. Industrial crops impact the economy by
providing a product which lessens the need for imports.
• Purpose of industrial crops industrial crops is a
designation given to an enterprise that attempts to raise
farm sector income, and provide economic development
activities for rural areas. Industrial crops also attempt
to provide products that can be used as substitutes for
imports from other nations
