Education
2014-2017 California State University Monterey Bay, Seaside,CA
B.S. Ecology, Evolutionary, and Organismal Biology, GPA: 3.82
2013-2014 Glendale Community College,Glendale, AZ
Associate in Science with Distinction, GPA: 3.77
Research Interests
Evolutionary Biology: Adaptation of microbial metabolism to extreme ecosystems in order
to theorize the limitsof life on Earth and elsewhere.
Astrobiology: Application of ecology, evolution, and environmental modeling to understand
the adaptability of life to extreme environments and the origin of life in the universe.
Organismal Ecology: Exploring the dynamic relationships of microbial populations involving
Archea and/or extremophiles
Research Experience
2016 Characterizing the Electrical Potential Gradient of the Molera Wetland, and Identifying
Potential Exoelectrogens in the Soil Community. -In Progress-
California State University, Monterey Bay, Haffa Lab,
Mentor: Arlene Haffa Ph.D.
Measured the electrical potential gradient of the soil column, and will
perform microbial analysis to identifyexoelectrogens and evaluate their role
in the production of electricity and in generating the redox gradient in the
soil.
2015 How Does Deep Peat Warming Affect Greenhouse Gas Concentrations in Porewater?
University of Oregon Summer Program for Undergraduate Research (SPUR), Bridgham Lab,
Graduate Student Mentor: Anya Hopple
Primary Investigator: Scott Bridgham Ph.D.
Evaluated how in situ warming of peat affects the concentration of
greenhouse gases (Carbon dioxide and methane) and methanogenic
substrate (Hydrogen gas) in the porewater of northern peatlands as a model
for climate change.
