The art of motivating a group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. It is an improvisational and experimental art. Introduction
After the recession the mix of urgency, high stakes and uncertainty is continuing as a norm. Economic crisis merely set  the stage for a sustained and permanent crisis of serious and unfair challenges. Firewall of Global Competition
Phases of Crisis Leadership It has two phases: ,[object Object]
Adaptive phase.We have to stabilize the situation & buy time. We have to tackle the underlying causes of the crisis & build the capacity to thrive in as new phase.
People having authority try to HunkerDown. Hunker Down- or Press “Reset” Adaptive leaders  do not make this mistake. Adaptive leaders seize the opportunity of moments, like the current one to hit the Resetbutton.
Leadership is a skill that enables most analytical problem solving, crisp decision making, articulation of clear direction. Today’s Leadership Tasks But, Adaptive phase of crisis requires some new leadership practices.
Foster Adaptation Helping people develop the ‘next practices” that will enable the organization to thrive in a new world, even as they continue with the best practices necessary for current success. Julie Gilbert Former senior Vice President Of  Best Buy

Giving people at all levels  of the organization the opportunity to lead experiments that will help it adapt to changing times. Generate Leadership
Give yourself permission to be both optimistic and realistic. Taking care of Yourself Reach out to confidants with whom you can debrief your workdays and articulate your  reasons Find Sanctuaries where you can reflect on events & regain perspectives. Sanctuary may be a place or activity that allows you to step away and recalibrate your internal responses.
Bring more of your emotional self to the workplace. Finally  Don’t loose yourself in the role.
Adaptive leadership is a daily opportunity to mobilize resources of people to thrive in a changing and  challenging environment.
