• Involved Educator. Coordinator/Deputy Co-Director Response Seminar 1996
“Preparing for the Nation’s Needs” and speaker “Medicine 1996”, evaluated as one of
the two best speakers of the weekend on the impact of case management and HMO’s
to the future of medicine. Coordinated and implemented a medical symposium at the
University of Massachusetts Medical Center on Colon Cancer and lectured on
Community Resources for Cancer Survivors with CEU and CMEs for health care
professionals, while serving as Breast Health Field Executive. Awarded for excellence
for organizing and supervising events on cardiac health, teaching community health
promotion, prevention and awareness with Naval Air Reserve Norfolk. CPR Instructor
1995-1996. Spoke with the senior nursing class of 1996 at Old Dominion University on
the politics of nursing. Organized a symposium on women’s health with the American
Cancer Society and with the New England Chapter of the Navy Nurse Corps
Association. At Naval Hospital Pensacola identified problems, expedited and improved
mechanisms for effective training with nursing orientation in close collaboration with
nursing leadership, creating reserve nurse competencies. Provided telephonic nursing,
coaching, education, and case management to patient participants nationwide.
Mentored to LPN students from VB Vocational Technical School during community
health rotation, eventually becoming part-time instructor with the program. Mentored
ODU accelerated students, providing orientation overview to home health nursing.
Examined and evaluated all medical reservists for credentialing processes and closely
processed necessary requirements and training, expanding competencies to all medical
reservists at Naval Hospital Pensacola. Consistently maintained unit readiness and
training above 90%, as Training Officer, Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Obtained
Directorate for Health Promotions with the Naval Environmental Center and the Cooper
Institute of Aerobic Research and developed programs for health promotion and
smoking cessation for the Naval Marine Corps Reserve Center Worcester,
Massachusetts. Lectured to Junior ROTC Sea Cadets on Smoking and prevention.
• Experienced clinician. Case Manager for medical intensive care unit and utilization
manager on trauma intensive care unit for Level I Trauma Medical Center in Northern
VA rated in top 100 hospitals nationwide. Provided support to cross cover various units
2. on an ongoing basis during low staffing. Original team-player and organizer of Surgical
Intermediate Staff Unit, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital staff nurse. Helped establish
functioning of unit, served as clinical in-service unit coordinator and clinical nursing unit
committee member. Acted as Charge Nurse on off shifts. Rapidly assimilated as staff
nurse on the busiest labor and delivery unit in the entire Department of Defense,
supporting over 350 births, 1200 outpatient visits, and 120 operating rooms per month,
ensuring optimal patient outcomes despite low manning due to deployments during
Operation Desert Freedom. Significantly contributed to a 25% increase in productivity
while on labor and delivery unit. Assertively resolved issues amongst departments and
within the unit. Focused on patient care and staff communications. Served as
guide/coordinator with nursing and coordination of medical-surgical units. As Active-duty
Officer, trained to medical surgical nursing and cross-trained to psychiatric nursing,
trained to charge nurse responsibilities. Attended numerous front line casualty training

Pediatric Clinic in absence of Nursing Division Officer at Naval Medical Center San
Diego.
• Executive Administrator. Managed the Integrated Medical Support Program for the
Naval Hospital Pensacola and its clinics in seven southeastern states as Department
Head, singlehandedly administering the training, credentialing and integration of 500-
600 medical reservists. Clinical Manager for home care agency responsible for
coordinating multidisciplinary staff, supervising care, training new personnel for Start-up
Company (Freedom Home Care). As Branch Manager for home care agency, doubled
the branch patient census. Accountable for all operations and management of staff
while providing comprehensive skilled health care services. Maintained staffing levels
for the Naval Hospital Pensacola and outlying clinics at over 90% the most in hospital
history. Additionally, revised and conceptualized more proficient ways to execute and
implement the smooth transition of the functioning of the Naval Hospital with a few
hundred reservists with three fleet hospital deployment exercises over eighteen months.
Identified staffing shortfalls and often worked additional assignments in labor and
delivery to support staff for the care of patients with increased acuity levels.
Experienced float home care coordinator across the Hampton Roads area.
Demonstrated expertise in assessments and evaluations of individual patients and
families in hospitals and nursing facilities. Coordinated/ordered needed care for patients
and medical equipment in close collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and
interdisciplinary teams. My expertise contributed to the home care company achieving
the #4 rank in quality nationwide.
• Skilled Communicator. Appeared on local television while serving as Reserve Liaison
Officer May 1999 on the “Lois and Mike Morning Show” for the History of Military
Nursing and April 1999 on “Blab TV” for the Integrated Medical Support Program
Backfill-Integration. News columnist “Emerald Ladies Journal” 1998-2000 with self-titled
news column “Ladies of Vitality and Effervescence: Living in Wellness. Provided health
and wellness column. Served as a facilitator for the Director for Administration
Environments of Care Committee, identifying communication issues in distributing
information amongst departments while serving as Reserve Liaison. Involved Naval
Hospital Pensacola Reserve Liaison and medical reservists in satellite conferences with
the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery and the Naval Reserve Force and provided
regional coverage for the inception of new telecommunication support programs for
family members. Effectively communicated with personnel, cross-trained to various
aspects of clinic and proactively communicated loopholes in processes to enhance

staff.
• Community Outreach. Effectively managed Breast Health Screenings and Education
while serving as Breast Health Field Executive, coordinating community programs to
inner city and multicultural, minority groups. Worked collaboratively with diverse
women’s groups and organizations, assembled the city’s and surrounding areas
network of medical programs and community organizations to facilitate communication
and interaction for improved teamwork and effectiveness. Volunteered as the Core
Team Leader for the American Cancer Society Central Massachusetts Chapter for the
original community presentation of Breast Health Awareness, partnering agencies in the
community working with the state researcher on breast health that culminated in a
statewide tailored project and the creation of the ACS Breast Health Video. Organized
and led teams for the statewide Strides Against Breast Cancer, serving as team leader
in transporting and managing a team with 100 participants; facilitated three breast
health teams for Central Massachusetts regions, and served as the facilitator/central
support resource for Reach to Recovery as well as assisting with the revamping of the
Reach to Recovery program in central Massachusetts.
• Accomplished long and medium range planner. Facilitated and prepared the
Reserve Liaison Department for the JCAHO inspection with a 97% score. Administered
performance improvement project as the Representative for Quality Improvement under
the Director for Administration, resulting in a 15% improvement. Department Head for
Naval Air Reserves Medical physical exam process revamped and reorganized the
physical exam systems as, resulting in a 30% decrease in time to complete exams.
Expanded regional coverage area of home care delivery while serving as Case
Manager with Best and Dependable Home Care, covering central and outer areas of
Hampton Roads.
