Profile:
I am an enthusiastic, confident and dedicated individual with a strong will to achieve and a constant push towards the
pursuit of perfection. My true passion in life is engineering & design, a field in which I have spent the last 10 years,
undertaking a degree in Mechanical Design & Manufacture, 4 years’ experience working in the automotive sector and
a further 4 years in aerospace; in addition to this I have been able to broaden my skills base with experience in IT,
customer service and aid work. With persistence and a very methodical approach I have no issue getting on with the
task at hand with the ability to plan resources and assess risk appropriately. I look forward to the unique challenges
different market sectors presents and always endeavour to add value to my organisation wherever possible.
During my time in industry I have made many strong connections in the fabrication, machining, composites, plastics
and rubber moulding industries including tooling manufacturers and parts suppliers, giving me an edge whenever new
projects or problems arise as these contacts are always willing to talk candidly to win my business and offer extremely
fast and reliable response times. Customers are also often impressed by my commitment, one such example is the
BAE chairman’s award for innovation I was given in 2013 for my work on the Warrior UOR program.
Education:
2014: Prince 2 Project Management – Foundation & Practitioner (Practitioner pass grade 85%).
2008-2012: University of Plymouth, BSc (Hons) Mechanical Design & Manufacture.
Final grade 1
st
, with prize winning dissertation.
Stage 3: Engineering related placement – A one year placement was successfully conducted with Pall Corporation
within the Aerospace Fluids division.
2005-2008: City & Guilds level 3 Automotive Maintenance & Repair, from Farnborough College of
Technology, Hampshire (Equivalent to 3 A levels at grade C).
2002-2005: 3 A Levels, including: Resistant materials - C, Biology - D & Geography - D with an AS level in
Computing - D, from Farnham College, Surrey.
2002: 6 GCSE’s at Grade C and above, including Science, Maths and English.
Professional experience:
GKN Aerospace – FPT Industries: Job title – Project Engineer. From 2012 – Present
Over the last 3 years I have lead product design programmes, for fuel systems and floatation systems in the
aerospace and defence sectors; due to the structure of the organisation I have had hands on experience with
all of the following:
 Project management & budget control
 Design of rubber or plastic composites as well as conventional composite products and various forms
of moulding techniques
 Tooling design
 Manufacturing engineering – Including new material development and new process design
 Qualification test engineer
 Customer quotations

SO32 2LZ
I am often selected to run UOR (Urgent Operational Requirement) or ailing programmes due to my fast paced
and focused approach, this has seen me rise quickly through the organisation and become an authority on
complex product design or manufacturing issues.
My work within the aerospace sector means I have worked with several of the large qualification bodies and
standards, the majority of my work focusing on the rotorcraft industry:
 EASA, FAA & CAAC
 RTCA DO160
 Mil 27422
 CS 29 & AC29 etc.
Pall Corporation: Job title – Mechanical Design Engineer (Aerospace Fluids). From 2010 - 2011.
Designer engineer and draftsman on aerospace fluid components, products included filtration elements, fluid
system manifolds, bowls & valves, rewarded with funding for my final degree year and a job offer post
completion for the quality of my work.
The Phirm: Job title – Automotive Technician & Custom Fabrication Engineer. From 2005 – 2008.
Designer and engineer, building custom cars tailored specifically to the individual client’s, concepts,
specification and personality. I was trusted by a large client base for my attention to detail, high standard of
finished product, approachability & confident personality.
Net connect IT Ltd: Job title – Contract IT work. 2009 & Current Part Time.
Both hardware and software installation in new build schools and colleges under the RM umbrella. This was a
good experience, allowing me to widen my skill base in a demanding and challenging professional
environment, having to provide daily progress reports. During this time I also gained CSCS accreditation. I
currently provide moves and changes support & supervision for Bank of America in London on a part time
basis.
The Princess Royal. From 2004-2005: Job title – Bar staff, waiter and kitchen staff.
From 1998- 2004:
I have also had several summer and part time jobs including, trading standards, demolition, scaffolding and a
mechanic/shop assistant for Raleigh Cycles, Guildford, for nearly 3 years.
Interests:
In previous years I have been a keen member of the world wide scouting association. In 2003 I was selected as a
small group of people to represent the UK in Thailand with 30,000 others from across the world as part of the 20
th
World Scout Jamboree. Pushing myself to achieve this unique opportunity was the best thing I have ever done and
allowed me to grow as a person, having to overcome language barriers and interact often in creative scenarios with
complete strangers. There was also the opportunity to give back to the people of Thailand who were so hospitable and
generous, by building a school playground in a remote area of the country. The help and resources we were able to
bring would have otherwise not been available for the local community. This in turn gained me some lifelong
connections and friends I will never forget. One day I hope to repay all the amazing opportunities that they provided
for me by putting some of my free time into being a Group Scout Leader.
My other interests include building cars, cycling and our family pets.
Skills:
Over the years I have amassed a good range of skills covering both interpersonal communication and the dedication I
apply to my work. These skills have helped me progress smoothly though my degree and now work with international
clientele who expect this level of professionalism. I also have working exposure with computer aided design software
such as Solidworks and Catia.
Design skills include; 3D solid modelling, FEA analysis, rendering and drafting. In addition to the digital side of design
and manufacturing I also have hands on experience with welding (MIG, TIG & RF), laser cutting, water knife, CNC,
rotational moulding, vacuum forming, compression moulding and Rapid Prototyping machines, to make the physical
product.
Management philosophies including Prince 2 and the techniques required to bring a company up to world class
performance. In previous years I have undertaken projects on six sigma levels of quality, Lean manufacturing &
Enterprise Resource Planning systems, all of which have attained 1
st
results.
My computing skills are not just limited to CAD, I have a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office publications
such as Word, Excel, Project, Power Point and Publisher. As part of my dissertation, based on metal bellows design, I
successfully created a design tool capable of producing the working parameters and characteristics produced by U-
shaped metal bellows of any size and ply configuration.
My ability to design with all aspects of the organisation and the customer in mind, backed up with an extensive
knowledge of manufacturing techniques and attention to detail are the basis for the trust and working relationship I
have with my clients, colleagues and suppliers, and it is this hands on knowledge which has allowed me to develop
my current engineering capability.
Career Plans:
To become a name in innovation and design, further any field I work in and work with the most ground breaking
technologies and products conceivable in the modern age. I intend to further my academic career with an engineering
related masters (part time at work), working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.
Certification:
 Prince 2 Foundation & Practitioner
 Flow - Water knife training
 Rotational Moulding
 Corporate Induction - Lotus Notes
 Catia V5 Foundation
 Catia Advanced
 Catia Surfacing
 ITAR Trained
