11. Section 6. Comments
What was the most positive aspect of the way in which this instructor taught this
course?
Comment
kiarash explain everything clearly in the lab and
always be very patient. in the lab, I learnt more than in lecture
The instructor was very well prepared and if there was any confusion as to an assignment or problem, he would provide
very clear explanations and examples
Attitude. Keeps me wanting to actually learn
Presented aspects in a clear and understandable method
Was able to make sure everyone understood what to do.
The lectures given before lab
The instructor was very open to questions, but didn't impede the class by going over materials unless necessary. There
was a variety of ways to approach the material (simulated, hardware, theoretically) and we explored all approaches.
Kiarash is a pretty smart guy and I've noticed that he really cares about his students.
When answering questions, he would also explain the significance of certain results or what was the most important
point to take.
Kiarash is a very responsible TA, and really very helpful at all times!
Give clear explanation on the lab
What can this instructor do to improve teaching effectiveness in the classroom?
Comment
maybe he could teach pspice at the first few class because some of the students don't know this software well
Not regarding the instructor(who was excellent): I think it would be beneficial for future students if a different lab manual
is used, the one we had for the course had quite a few errors
Its already good
Perhaps a bit more of an introduction to the material in the lab.
Honestly, Kiarash was a pretty good teacher. There was a few lab sections that I found a little frustrating like the
transformer lab (the one where only one group at a time could use the transformer) but I attribute that one more to lack
of resources than anything else.
Lab time is limited, so there isn't much he can do about teaching since it will only take up more time to go over how
everything works. I think we walked into almost every lab session doing an experiment about something that was only
covered in class the following week, which doesn't help much in my opinion. I think the professor for the class should
have made a schedule that would fit lab time more conveniently, but Kiarash did well in explaining most of the
problems we encountered in the experiments.
He is the best TA I have ever seen!

12. For courses with laboratory and/or discussion sections: were the
laboratory/discussion sections helpful to your learning?
Comment
lab is far more usefull than lecture because prof don't teach
Definitely
Yes
Instructor always available to help with questions.
I realize I already wrote this for the lecture section, but I felt that lab sections would have been much more helpful if the
material followed the lecture. I remember there was a 3-4 week delay from the lecture to the lab, and this made labs
incredibly frustrating because we essentially had to learn the material on the fly, and then immediately, we would forget
it. The structure for retention simply wasn't there.
They were somewhat helpful, but I think that they were too far ahead of the class material for the most part. We often
walked into something we had never seen before in every lab section.
Yes! it helps a lot! most of time I learn knowledge from lab instead of lecture.
Very helpful towards the study
