  1. Not honoring copyright laws is considered theft and can result in legal action. Those who have put the copyright on an idea have claimed it as their own and by using their ideas, you are stealing from them. Which means that downloading music or movies without honoring copyright, is illiagal. Copyright laws are protected under ferderal law and carried out by the courts, meaning that violators could face fines or even jail time.
