Backstory
In the multiverse, there is a lush, bright, green forest that gets plenty of sunlight and rainfall, enough
to be a favorable and advantageous place to live. Though the forest receives a good deal of rainfall,
the forest itself is not so wet and humid as to be a swamp, wetland, marsh, rainforest, or jungle.
Likewise, the amount of sunlight the forest accumulates does not cause the forest to be unpleasantly
hot, also unlike swamps, wetlands, marshes, rainforests, and jungles. With all of these circumstances
of the forest, it is an ideal place to live.
Within this forest, there lives a barbarian tribe that is home to all shapes and sizes of various races
and subclasses of barbarians and even non-barbarians that all live together in their village. There are
humans and dwarves and even half-orcs and dragonborn that all live harmoniously in their barbarian
tribe. Some barbarians in the tribe chose the path of the totem warrior subclass, and since they are
very spiritual, the tribe has a magnificent, brilliant, golden totem that they worship as a sacred item
and as a symbol of strength and protection for the tribe.
One day, the raiding party of the tribe decided to prepare for and embark on a journey to test their
abilities and garner more helpful, beneficial items for the tribe—as well as perhaps even some
additional recruits for the tribe. After the tribe suitably readied themselves for the upcoming pillage,
the raiding party departed their beloved home forest to carry out their attack.
The raiding party endured and underwent the harsh and moderately long and lengthy journey to a
certain large, lofty, immense mountain peak. There are said to be some goliaths that live atop this
mountain, and the raiding party hopes to add some numbers to their tribe. As they slowly approach
the peak of the mountain, they start to make out a dark, rocky cave in the cold, snow-filled distance
up the slope. The raiding party further snuck their way up the mountain, allowing the cavern to,
slowly but surely, appear more clear against the ruthless snow.
Once they were close enough to the cave, the raiding party prepared themselves for their initial
attack. From where they were outside of the cavern, they couldn’t make out any source of light
coming from inside the dark dwelling, but the party was sure they were in there. Then, finally,
amongst the brutal ambience of the windy snow, the surrounding rocky outcrops, and the harsh
incline of the mountain peak, they released their barbarian fury! There were, in fact, some goliaths
in the cave, huddled around a small fire, deep in the cavern.
2. The goliaths within the cave immediately reached for their weapons in response to the pillaging
barbarians, ready to fight back with all of their colossal, powerful might. The barbarians’ clubs
intensely bludgeoned into the substantial but stone-carved flesh of the goliaths. Great axes clashed
and clanged against other great axes, and more clubs bashed against other clubs. The barbarians’
and goliaths’ shadows from the fire danced against the jagged stone wall of the cave. The fighting
continued on. There were only about 10 to 15 goliaths in the cavern facing up against about 25 to 30
barbarians in the raiding party. The barbarians outnumbered the goliaths, but the goliaths have an
advantage in their larger size. The battle raged on for some time.
Goliaths are so large and therefore so powerful, but the barbarians resourcefully exploited their
advantages of the element of surprise and their slightly larger numbers. It was a difficult but
rewarding battle for the barbarians, and eventually, they did end up winning against the goliaths. All
of the goliaths’ huge, still bodies laid motionless upon the hard, rocky ground of the cave, their fire
continuously flickering on in the cavern. Some of the goliaths were dead, and some were simply
rendered severely unconscious from the attack, but all in all, the barbarians satisfyingly won the
hard-earned battle against the goliaths.
Once the dust had settled, the barbarians looked around their fallen foes’ home, searching along the
solid, stone ground of the cave for any items and tools and such that could prove useful for their
tribe back home. The goliaths had weapons, of course—some clubs, some great axes, some scimitars
and shortswords, etc. As the party continued their examination, a dwarf among the raiding party
named Hilda came across a bundle of animal hide that was laying on the ground of the cavern; it was
a bit farther deeper into the cave. Hilda crouched down and investigated the bundle more closely.
She began to unwrap the insulating, furry layers of the animal pelts.
With Hilda being a dwarf, this bundle was almost as big as she was. As she further unwrapped the
bundle, she began to see a tan-gray face buried amongst the animal pelts. It was a goliath baby! The
child moved its face around, opening its eyes and looking around, eventually the baby stopped and
stared at Hilda holding it. Hilda decided to take the child back home to the barbarian tribe to raise it
as one of their own.
Once the raiding party returned to their forest, Hilda found out the baby was a girl. She dressed her
accordingly, giving her new clothing to match her new life in the forest. Several days passed. Hilda
took care of the goliath girl, feeding her, clothing her, eventually she would train her to be a
barbarian. One day, several days after the fight with the goliaths from the mountain, the new goliath
girl was out amongst the tribe, running around and playing. As she reached the outskirts of the
barbarian camp, she came across a beautiful yellow and orange flower. She knelt down beside it,
examining it carefully, simply admiring its natural beauty.
“Where are you?” Hilda exclaimed, running through the camp looking for the goliath girl. “Oh, there
you are,” she said once she found her looking at the flower. “Oh my,” Hilda said gently, holding the
girl, looking at the flower with her. “That’s a dahlia flower,” she told the goliath girl. “They’re very
rare around here, but they do come up every so often.” She looked at her. The girl looked back at
Hilda. “You must be very special,” she said, tapping the girl’s nose. “You know what, I haven’t given
you a name yet,” she remembered. “This must be a sign,” she continued. “In honor of this moment,
3. I’ll name you Dahlia.” The girl looked back at Hilda, then back at the beautiful yellow and orange
dahlia flower. From then on, the goliath girl was known as Dahlia.
More days passed, which turned into weeks, which turned into months, which turned into years that
passed by. Dahlia grew up big and strong just like a proper goliath barbarian, all with Hilda guiding
her along, the barbarian way. With that, Dahlia grew up to become a great warrior and fighter like
her mother. She’s made her mother and her tribe proud.
