2. TEchnologyisheretostay
Through this course I have learned that there are a lot of
anxieties about using technology in the classroom. Some
people even fear that technology is depriving out students of
certain social skills. While I am not in a position to say
whether or not these fears are grounded in truth, I can say
that technology is irrevocably intertwined in education of
the coming generations. It is my duty as an educator to learn
as much as I can about these technologies, with the help of
systems such as PLN’s, to ensure every student I teach is
given proper support and contextual learning. Regardless of
what teachers may think or fear, technology is here to stay
3. TEchisgood!
Bringing Technology into the classroom gives students
infinitely more opportunities through things such as:
maker movement
allows students to interact with curriculum in new way
Virtual learning environments
allows students from many situations access to learning
the main idea here being accessible learning
4. Multipleuseswithintheclassroom
One of the best things about bringing technology into the
classroom is that the only limit of what can be done is your
imagination
SmartBoards
can be used to play interactive learning games, can be used the same as
a white board, yet also allows you to screencast what you are doing
on the board
Mobile Learning
phone/mobile apps to help students or engage students
allows students to learn anywhere (in and out of the classroom
5. Importantforcontextualized, meaningfuleducation
Technology has become such an important part in our students
lives. By rejecting technology in the classroom, you would be
rejecting all of the possibilities for contextualized
learning that comes with technology. Encouraging students to
pursue the use of technology to aid their schooling will
undoubtedly help students to engage with their learning in a
new way. I also think that it is important to educate
students on how to use technology effectively and ethically
because, even if it isn’t important to them now, it will be.
Their lives and jobs will require them to know how to
interact with technology, thus it is my job as their teacher
to prepare them for that.
6. challengestechnologybringstotheclassroom
requires teacher effort
When a teacher brings technology into the classroom it creates more
work for the teacher, at least initially, because they have to learn
how to use the technology
I personally believe that the results that will come out of using
technology will make the extra effort worth it
Funding
technology is not free, unfortunately, so it can be difficult to bring
technology into a classroom that does not have the funds to spend on
computers etc. As technology becomes more accessible, however, it
becomes more affordable
7. PErsonalThoughtsontechintheclassroom
Using technology in education is incredibly important. I don
not believe that it is an option to not use technology in the
classroom anymore. Students will be using technology whether
the teacher wants them to or not, thus the teacher is
responsible for remaining educated on technology and how to
use it. The students we will be teaching have been born and
raised with technology, unlike most generations before. It
would be foolish not to tap into the potential that the
internet brings for education.
8. Personalthoughtsontechintheclassroom pt2
I used to be anxious about using technology in the classroom
because the students would be far more immersed in the use of
technology than I am. I know now to look to my students and
learn from them, as well as to look to my peers for support.
I will use technology in my classroom because it will be
necessary for my students to succeed. I know that I need to
keep an open mind, think creatively, and to try new things in
order to give my students every opportunity to learn that I
can.
