1. Newsletter - Project Comenius
The Comenius programme focuses on school
education. The aim of the programme is to
develop better understanding among young
people, helping them to acquire the basic life
skills and competences necessary for personal
development, future employment and active
participation in European affairs.
The part of the Comenius programme is our approved project Legends of my town, which is
a multilateral project that involves nine countries – Croatia, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Latvia and Spain.
The project Legends of my town has started in
September 2011. The First meeting was held
in Zagreb in October 2011 and the second
meeting was in Martin, Slovakia. Each school
presented their town and school in Zagreb. In
Slovakia, there were selected legends, logos
and 3D models of legends presented by each
country. The upcoming meetings are going to Meeting in Zagreb
be held in Spain, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria,
Latvia and the Czech Republic.
The next meeting will be in Spain, where every
nation will perform their national dance and
song, followed by a meeting in Poland which will
be attended by the winners of the newsletter
competition.
The project encourages students to learn more
about the history of different European coun-
tries, respect and understand the traditions of Meeting in Slovakia
other nations by comparing similarities and
differences. This highlights that every nation
has different cultures and traditions, therefore
this gives us the reason to learn and respect
them.
Due to the activities of the project, students
will be able to develop their language skills
and establish a friendship with people from
