How effective is our red lipstick synergy across video and texts
1. Question 2

p r o d u c t ( v i d e o ) a n d a n c i l l a r y t e x t s ( d i g i p a k /

2. Our Synergy used in the vide0
At the start we were going to use hoop earrings as our synergy. This soon changed to red
lipstick because we thought that the red stood out more and was linked to our artist. We had
our performer use this red lipstick in the video during filming and even include a time where she
is recorded putting it on.Also during close ups we see it clearly in the video and when it is a mid
shot of her and the second main character.
3. These are other screen shots
from the video that show our
performer with her red lipstick
on.The top left image is when her
red lipstick is brightest in the
bathroom base track which is the
same location as the image of her
putting the lipstick on.
The image on the bottom right is
when she is enjoying herself in
the club scene with the others
but we can still see the lipstick in
the dark conditions.The same
goes for the image on the bottom
left.
The top right image is similar to
the image on the last slide and we
can see the red lips contrasting
with not only the darkness, but
with the white shirt of the male
actor.
4. Our synergy used in ancillary
texts
I was sure to incorporate red lips in all my ancillary texts. In my advertisement I used it near her
signature name design at the top of the advertisement.
Additionally, in the photo of her
we see her lips are red as well
which is another instance of
where I used my synergy.
In the image of the front cover
we also see red lips.
5. Inside the case we see that she is
wearing red lipstick in the image on the
left and once again the lips is the
biggest and major feature on the CD
itself.This placement makes the synergy
stand out even further because even
just seeing the CD would link the
audience to the whole album.
On the front cover of my CD case
we see the red lips as the main
subject of the design. It is based in
the centre of the cover and the
biggest feature. I have also included it
on the back in the top right.
6. secondary synergy
We also have a lot of lights appearing in our video which link to the club theme. This was
intentional and I decided to include this in my own ancillary texts to add a second link and
synergy with my products. I used neon lights in my ancillary texts to link to the club.
7. Audience response
We got positive feedback after our screening and got responses on our synergy from our target
audience.
This video shows our audience telling us what
they think the synergy is from watching the video
alone. They say the red lips and the lights used in
the club.
I used both these features.
THISVIDEO IS BELOW THIS POWERPOINT!
I also created a survey to ask people from my
target audience what they thought was most
noticeable in my products.
Majority of the responses said that there was a
major link with the lipstick and lights in both my
video and ancillary texts.

8. Was our synergy a success?
I think that our synergy was a success as our target audience noticed them more in our products and
hence using them in my work would create a better set of products to get more fans for my
performer.
Our audience was females aged 18-24 and I believe this set of products would attract our audience
because of the link to using lipstick in their lives and enjoying parties with friends which is what Amal
K did. Hence this would promote her further.
Our male audience would be attracted through the synthetic personalisation and male gaze on the
images of Amal K as well as the mixture of dark colour and club lights as males of 18-24 would also
enjoy going to the club.
Initially we had decided to use hoop earrings as our synergy however we decided to use the lipstick
as it is more subtle but stands out. It is also easier to incorporate in our products.
