This document introduces PopMatics, an approach to teaching mathematics that uses elements of popular culture to engage students. PopMatics aims to bridge the gap between math content and students' daily lives. It infuses daily math instruction with technology, the internet, mass media, social media, and interactive activities. Examples provided include using The Wizard of Oz to teach the Pythagorean theorem and Abbott and Costello routines to teach basic operations. The purpose of the PopMatics Math Club is to increase math comprehension, understanding, and appreciation through exposing students to ways math appears in their daily lives, especially through popular culture elements. It also offers tutoring support and helps create math-related parodies and activities.
