Background
On Wednesday 20th June 2012 motor enthusiasts from all around the world will gather in Weymouth for the start of an
unprecedented 10 day event - Round Britain 2012 (RB12).
250 competitors in 50 cars, 50 powerboats and 50 aircraft will compete in a circumnavigation of Britain’s coastline by
land, sea and air:!
– The Round Britain Powerboat Race was previously run in 1969, 1984 and 2008. It is a World Cup Marathon event
supported by both the Royal Yachting Association and the Union Internationale Motonautique.
– The Air Race is modeled on the Circuit of Britain Air Race held in 1911 and is supported by the Royal Aero Club.
– The Land Tour will consist of at least 50 vehicles in 6 classes: vintage, classic, luxury, 4x4, super & green cars
touring the country competing in various classes under Motor Sport Association license.
An estimated 100,000 spectators will visit venues to see the race unfold. These include Weymouth (2012 Olympic sailing
venue), Falmouth, Liverpool, Swansea, Edinburgh, Hull and Ramsgate. The venues vary from inner city locations with good
public access to beautiful rural sites providing a stunning backdrop for the competing teams to socialise
Opportunities exist for a variety of sponsorship packages to allow businesses and venues market their brands to our
competitors and the wide national and international audience that will be following this event.
