Haringey council were in the process of finding ways to redevelop Wood Green. After assessing the community structure it was clear that their was a disconnect between the artist community, residents and visitors. It was important to make sure Wood Green isnt only known for the ' The Mall' on the highstreet.
Project Showcase is an Exhibition Space for the Artist community in the Chocolate factory, connected to their existing cafe space this structure will provide a space for all the communites to unite.

SITE OVERVIEW
Restrictions & Proposal Impact
The site is difficult to record without activity,
It is constantly being used for parking, Offloading takes
place regularly and there is and access the mutiple lev-
els in cyprus house which all provide interesting views
of the site and surrounding context. The sections also
assist in establishing the different levels within cyprus
house in contrast to the residential and office buildings
opposite from the site. Marked voids show the con-
straints onsite, because of the many conditions the de-
sign proposal will have to adapt to the context rather
than obstructing it.
With the arrival of Project Showcase its positive impact
on Wood Green are focused in these areas:
Council - High priority objectives set out by Haringey
have been achieved through project showcase. This in-
cludes a square or space for people to relax, support for
local businesses, improving visitor numbers and east
and west connections.
Creative Community - The Chocolate Factory artists
now have a space where they can exhibit their work
and increase their target audience on a grand scale.
The space is adaptable and allows many events to take
place at one time, this in turn allows the chocolate fac-
tory artists to not only socialise with the public but also
with each other.

The structural axo is a summary of my proposal
construction, showing imagery to help with the
visualisation of the space. The thick concrete
floor is holding up a light timber frame. The 1 of
the 4 structural pillars is built up to the top floor
keeping the structure stable. The 1m thick wood
interior wall containing impact absorbent insula-
tion will preserve the sound quality in the audio
space. The large glass windows and bay win-
dows are glazed to preserve the heat.
The desired look for the façade is large Wooden
panels that create a grill effect on large concrete
pillars. The wood can be resourced locally from
‘Wood Green Timber’ making the construction
process shorter. The timber is treated chemically
to preserve the durability and wear and tear.

10. DISPLAY WINDOW ENTRANCE
The entrance has developed the most in the project. From the street, the en-
trance has a large window that will allow the public to see the display and entry
staircase to the structure. Both users for the elevator and stairs will travel through
this space.
1. THE EXTENSIVE SPACEFRAME ROOF
This Pyramid double grid space frame spans across the entire struc-
ture and attaches to Chocolate Factory 2. The Mero system will be
used to bolt the spaceframe together.
3. SKYLIGHT ROOF
This is the primary roof shelter for the
exhibition space, the large skylight filters the amount of light in the
space, directing the light to the centre of the room.
5. THE CONTROL ROOM
Staff and Chocolate Factory artists have access to this space, this
room holds the equipment to project into the audio space and into
the foyer.
7. BAY WINDOW
This window cantilevers out over the street and is one of the first
elements that stand out in the entire building particularly from street
level.
9. CONCRETE TABLE
The concrete table has 4 structural pillars holding up the timber
structure. decorated to match the red brick courtyard the structure
immediately becomes part of the site itself. Three of the structural
pillars are also storage spaces that can hold equipment for any out-
door events.
11. COURTYARD
This courtyard is a symbol of the transfer from the Wood Green area
into the creative quarter of Wood Green. The Courtyard extends onto
the street and pavement, establishing a sense of new territory which
will be experienced by anyone using this route through the area.
The new opening in Karamel Restaurant projects onto this space at-
tracting more business as its capacity can increase. There are many
opportunities for use of this space, outdoor events can take place
here or under the structure itself, on quieter days the space can be
a space to relax on the benches and admire the roof the shelters the
space.
Also, there is a loading bay available at the corner of the site for
deliveries etc. for the existing businesses to continue to run smoothly.
8. AUDIO ROOM/ CINEMA SPACE
This is a space dedicated to audio and film makers in the Chocolate Factory
studios, previously th¬¬eir studios and online platforms were the only way to
view their work. The cinema room provides a more professional setting and has
the capacity to hold a larger audience.
6. DOUBLE HEIGHT FOYER
As your progress through the structure you arrive in this 9 metre high space with
a direct view of the roof that
projects across the entire courtyard to the existing
chocolate factory. This is the socialising space welcome to all users with seating
and a bar.
The foyer provides the most captivating experience in the structure with view-
points of the courtyard and street.
4. EXHIBITION SPACE
The Kunthaus in Bregenz influenced the design on this space, both entrances
into the space begin at a corridor guiding all users to the most important space.
The only viewpoint into this space is through the corridors, these windows allow
you to see down into the Foyer and courtyard.
The final design has evolved majorly from the initial design,
the objective has remained the same while introducing new
qualities that will ultimately be very beneficial for Wood Green.
