We work closely with various agencies that provide clients with educational and vocational training. Through our regular Y Visits, Y Outings and Y Camp Challenges, staff and volunteers plan fun and engaging events that also allow our beneficiaries to apply what they learn in their schools and centers. To enable volunteers to serve more effectively, Orientation Visits and Volunteers’ Training are provided continually, by both the YMCA and partnering VWOs. These sessions help volunteers to better understand the behavior and thought patterns of our beneficiaries and how best to engage them in all our activities. Social and life skills are imparted through a variety of activities and progressively, we see our beneficiaries becoming more confident, more expressive and more independent. Money handling, communications, commuting by public transport, personal hygiene and etiquette are some of the skills taught throughout our programmes and beneficiaries are encouraged to apply them in varying circumstances.
