Questionnaire about Classification I asked 20 people from all age ranges seven questions about classification and these are the results
Have you watched films classified as 18 when you were below this age? Despite the classification many people choose to ignore it and still watch a film which is too old for them, showing that classification doesn’t always work.
Have you been able to watch a film in the cinema classified at either 15 or 18 when you were below this age? Cinema’s  need to be stricter on who they allow in their cinema’s they should ask for i.d so people can prove their ages, therefore stopping under age people in an older classification screening.
Does classification work for home viewing? In the comfort of your own home you have the freedom and ability to watch anything you want , so clearly people do not pay attention to the classification.
Have you ever watched a film classified as being too old for you with your parents/carers at home? Parents may feel that due to them supervising what their children watch it is ok to disobey the classification.
Can parents/carers be trusted to monitor what their children are viewing? Parents may do the best they can to monitor what their children are watching but due to resources such as the internet this may make it hard for them.
Should parents/carers take more responsibility with what their children watch ? This question had a split response, showing that it depends on the parent/carer and child on the level of responsibility needed. Some parents may want their children to learn from the choices they make and some parents may want to shield their children from the films.
Do you take notice of the classification of a film when deciding on a film to watch? People look to classification as guidelines giving them a reference on what the film will be like. They are useful in this way but by these results classification is not really taken notice of.
