• Sign illumination can be relaxed throughout a 20mph
limit/zone – subject to risk analysis
• Remove the requirement for terminal signs to be placed
on both sides of the road
• Repeater signs can be used as a physical feature
• Remove the requirement for a speed roundel to be
accompanied by an upright sign
• Provided new signs for 20mph part-time limits

• 8 x speed hump = £2000 x 8 = £16000
• Illuminated traffic sign = £600 x 16 = £9600
• Energy costs and maintenance = £100 pa =

• 4 back-to-back signs for zone = £4 x £300 =

• 2 x unilluminated parking signs = 2 x £200 =
