2. VRM Online Support
Instant Alarm Root cause Analysis
The VRM Online Support combines a classical condition monitoring system with
unique services in terms of elaborateness and data preparation. Loesche collaborates
with DALOG a family owned and independent monitoring specialist which provides
customized solutions since 1998. Over 200 plants worldwide are equipped with DALOG.
The concept itself consists of 3 levels. The condition monitoring system builds the
foundation. Next stage is the torque measurement system at the input shaft and finally
the Process Monitoring which records mill operation parameters in high resolution. Our
System puts data into context and offers a solution for classical maintenance planning
but also process optimization and root cause analysis.

3. Core element of the concept is the gearbox which is monitored by a multi-sensor
online system. Next stage is the torque measurement system to precisely capture the
dynamics during mill operation that are applied onto the gearbox elements. The
System will send instant alarms to the CCR if the torque signal runs out of line. The
next superior level represents the grinding process as the origin of dynamics. In
combination with the torque signal it is possible to correlate the outcomes of both
measurements to detect the root cause of high dynamics. The outer shell represents
our online solution.

Sensors:
• Speed
• Acceleration
• Displacement
• Temperature
All sensors such as Speed Sensors, Acceleration Sensors, Displacement Sen-
sors and Temperature Sensors are mounted inside or onto the gearbox housing. The
Torque Sensors is applied directly on to the input shaft and creates the signal via strain
gauges. All sensors are connected to a junction box and communicate via fieldbus with
the PLC. The collected data will be transferred via VPN connection for further processing.
4. The CCR interface enables the operator to check the status of
every single Sensor at any time and to react on instant alarming.
With the evaluation software process engineers can correlate
multiple process parameters to find the root cause of unstable
process conditions and high dynamics during operation
The report itself follows a coherent structure. Starting off with a
summary of all gearbox signals, followed by torque alarms and
eventually the correlation of torque signals and process parameters.
