taking the opportunities to speak to your audience

What are people saying about you, your competitors, your
industry?
The key is that you want people to be talking positive about
you, not necessarily to you and expanding the reach of
those messages to their networks

3. Engagement – THE point of social media
Authentic conversations with current and potential customers
and key contacts, transparent customer service, evidence
and showcase your expertise to increase your brand
reputation
If you don’t engage in conversation on social media you’re
doing it wrong!

4. Sharable & relevant content
The content you share on social needs to be directly linked
to your objectives, is it something that will interest, help,
entertain your audience? Will they value it enough to share
it with their network?
The social space is already packed, why should people
follow you, what are you offering?

5. Measurement of activity/ROI
You need to measure the effectiveness of your time spent on
social media? How will you know if it’s working?
If you’re not getting the results you want, review your
strategy and KPIs – is it the right platform for your
marketing?

Social media is about sharing and being helpful in an online
community
Much like offline networking – it’s about developing contacts,
offering and receiving genuine recommendations and
referrals – this can be done by sharing content from non-
competing sources and introducing members of your
