2. Audience- who is your project for
My project is for people who are aged 18-35 because the
majority of that age group would like this type of film because
hey are more likely to believe in something like this. This age
groups are interested into thrillers and the majority of the age
group would go to the cinema . Also my project is aimed for
males which for my project will be good because my project is
male orientated so my audience will like my film.
3. Enemy of the state
The film enemy of the stat is a film about the Government
tracking people using satellites and will smiths character gets a
USB without him knowing with the government killing someone
who disagrees with them and the whole film is about will smith
trying to survive the government capture. The movement bugs
his house and phone and everything from his wallet to his shoe.
The reason why I am looking at this film is because the sense of
paranoia and the use of CCTV footage and satellite footage of
them stalking him.
4. Panic room
The film panic room is about a family of 2 played by Jodie foster and a young
Kristen Stewart are trapped on their new houses safe room as 3 robbers come
in and try and get the fortune which is in that room. They use a really small,
which for me is good because I can see that there is a film just set in a house
which has grossed 100 million dollars. In the film the use CCTV cameras which
I want to use in my film. Overall this film is great to watch because it has a lot
in common in my film where there is an intruder in the house and thy go to
the panic room to hide in an also the use of CCTV cameras
5. Market- what is the competition
There is a lot of competition to my film. There are already lots of
great thrillers such as se7en, zodiac and panic room. These are
really high profile thrillers which will give my film a run for its
money. There is also a thriller which is also to do with
surveillance and that is called enemy of the state which I am
going to get some of my ideas from.
6. 2015 Films
I wanted to have a look of what
my age groups like in terms of
films. I had a look at what films
the age group liked in 2015 and
the majority of them are action
films or are thriller films which is
good for me because I am
making a thriller film. For
example the film Taken 3 40% of
their audience where aged 15-24
and the film legend 32% of their
total audience where aged 15-24
and 23% of their total audience
was aged 25-34 that’s 55% of
their audience
7. 2016 Films
I wanted to have a look of what
my age groups like in terms of
films. I had a look at what films
the age group liked in 2016 and
the majority of them are action
films or are thriller/horror films
which is good for me because I
am making a thriller film. For
example the film the Conjuring 2
67% of their total audience
where aged 15-24 which is
amazing because it is a horror
thriller film and my film is a
horror thriller action style film
8. Surveys
In this section I found out that the majority of my audience are male which is good
because the film that I am making is a male focused film so from doing this survey I will
find out what they think of my film and will help me because it is a male focused film.
Also the age of the people who took my survey where 50/50 50% where under 18 and
50% where 18. this will help me because even though my age for my film is 18-25 it will
be good to see what people think of my film no matter the age because they might give
some valid points.
9. Surveys
Question 3 shows me there is a split between people who like TV shows and films. This
could be good because normally streaming networks like Netflix turns old films Into
shows or newer films into shows show theoretically I could make a mini series for the
film. Q4 shows me that people don’t watch movies religiously 50% said they sometimes
watch movies which suggest they watch one once a week. For me this means I should
make my film visually pleasing and have a good premise because if I don’t they will bat
an eye because people normally read the premise before so I need it to be good
10. Surveys
Q5 I asked if my idea for a short film is good and 100% of the people said yes it is. This is
giving me some confidence going into the script writing and filming. Q6 was also good for
me because I asked if I should change anything for the premise of my film and the majority
of the answers where saying that they would change anything. One of the answers said “to
be honest, the plot is well thought out. I don’t think there is anything I would change “
but some said they would add onto that, they did’t say I was a bad idea they where just
saying add different aspects in and it would make the story a lot better such as “explaining
main characters background”
11. Surveys
Q7 helps me to find out what tropes to use in my film/trailer. This helps to think how I
can use these tropes in my film and trailer using the most common ones that people
think you need in a thriller. Q8 gives me an idea of how other people where to make a
thriller what would they do. This helps me get ideas for my film so I could implement
them in my film so it will look really good.
12. Surveys
Q9 would help me where to put my film for people to watch. The majority of the people
who answered the survey watch the majority of their film on Netflix or different
streaming sights, lots of companies now are trying to get their films on Netflix or
streaming sights. Q10 would help e dedicate a length of a short film if I was to make one.
They where saying 6-7 mins would be ideal for a short film.

a part of a role play is unacceptable
19. Audience appropriate content
Looking at the ratings I reckon my film will be 12-12a because there are some
scenes which will be a bit disturbing for the younger people because some
scenes will be quite tense and a a sense of threat.
20. Production techniques
One technique I would like to use are bullet hole
effects. I would think they would look really
good in the film/trailer. I think it will look a lot
better when someone shoots a gun you get to
see the impact of the shot on a car or a door. I
would use some presets for the bullet hole.
21. Production techniques
I would like to try an implement CCTV footage in my film.
So I would like to practice making some footage in after
effects. This would look really effective in my film because
my antagonist will use CCTV cameras to spy on his prey
and torment them. I might make my own camera effects
such as the different cameras such as camera numbers
and the dates.
