If you wrote the word “Bharatiya” in any Indian language, you would have essentially
written exactly the same characters. It would only vary in how the characters in each
case would have looked!
That mere difference is behind our being unintelligible to each other, partisan politics,
disputes over river water, chasing “outsiders” away, redrawing state boundaries and
all the other axes of political division and disunity.
When we unite in our script, we fuse India into one canvas of gradients of ever
changing shades of languages with no water tight divisions. We understand each
other and we realize that we are really one. We preserve our valuable linguistic
diversity but yet are united in our script, with its multifarious benefits.
2. Case study
3 year olds in an
English
Kindergarten are
introduced to the
English
alphabets,
standing lines,
sleeping lines,
slanting lines,
they start with.
Whereas an
Indian child will
have to wait till
the age of 5 till
he can handle
the complexity
of Indian
alphabets. A late
start in life by
design.
3. Case study
Why? How does
the complexity
of our script help
us. Can we not
reform it?
Many phones,
devices cannot
display Hindi
correctly. It is
also costly.
4. Need
• Indian language scripts are numerous, diverse and are each complex in form
which offers a great challenge in their learnability and implementation in
digital systems. That complexity in form (typography) is unnecessary and
serves no practical purpose. We can easily modify these forms to simpler
forms with every scientific considerations in mind. "Shiva" is a proposed
artificial script system which has been designed to include all Indian
languages with one common script which offers wide ranging advantages. It
can be learnt in half an hour because it is deducible - can be arrived at
through simple logical rules. It is simple in form so it embraces interfaces to
digital technologies of current times. No orthographical changes have been
introduced, the script has only been modified in its form. In how it looks!
5. The Idea
• “Shiva” is a proposed linguistic (script) reform of
simplification and integration in the form of a Pan-Indic
script system created from the drawing board with the
multiple aims of easy support of all Indian languages on
all digital platforms, easy interoperability between all
Indian languages and improving literacy in the country.

6. Value Proposition
• The Offering
• Shiva is about linguistic reform for India and also applicable to
the subcontinent. Its implementation will result in far enhanced
literacy, interoperation between languages of India and hence
unity between people and also will result in easy integration of
digital technologies to regional languages of India.
• Shiva has been designed from the drawing board with the
following scientific considerations - single generic vector based
script common for all Indian languages, simple common display
technologies of low complexity, segment display and other electro
mechanical display systems, a consistent logical system which is
inclusive of all languages, orthogonal in representation with no
overlaps, good recognisability and readability from far and
suitability to OCR technologies, easy to learn and interpret,
deducible through few simple logical rules, efficient in space,
mono space font. Overall the Shiva script offers ease of
integration to digital systems that far surpasses the latin script.
And India can offer leadership in that space.
7. Business Model
• The Plan
• This is a social reform enterprise and not for profit, instead we are only
spending. The gross utility to the country in digital inclusion of masses,
literacy, unification and indigenous pride is vast wealth. We know that such
an initiative will bring us glory and leadership. Business opportunities in the
future from consulting, implementation, support, educational material etc
would result also.
• Marketing and Awareness Plan
• Shiva is incorporated within our products as we spread awareness of this concept
countrywide. We evangelize and speak about it in appropriate forums so that a
consensus is gradually built towards its adoption.
• Funding requirements
• Rs 103 Lakhs towards organisation, promotional expenses, conferences,
papers etc. 1 yrs.
9. Expenses Figures in Lakhs INR
Year 1 Year 2 Year 3
Salary 37 100 150
Infrastructure 4.4 4 4
Local Groups 15 45 150
Promotional 25 62 124
Travel 21 30 50
Administrative 1 2 2
Total 103.4 213 480
10. Competition
• There is no competition and we do not see any challenges towards
implementation of the technology into the digital systems. In fact we
have already implemented it into the Panini Keypad integrated
Indian language technology which is running on millions of phones.
It is fully functional, is fully inclusive of all Indian languages and fits
in perfectly and coherently in divine design with no exceptions for
any language.
• Such a proposal for linguistic reform is new. Currently Indian
languages are very poorly supported or largely not supported on
digital devices due to the drawbacks of the existing script system.
11. Project Risks
• Very cold response from public.
• No inherent motivation to learn or convert to this script.
• Run into rough weather with self proclaimed cultural police or politics.
• Rate of conversion slowed down by lack of fund raising, grants, charity.
Risk Mitigation Plan
• Our company will continue to support from within its own resources.
• Dispell myths by allying visionaries, spiritual leaders, opinion leaders.
• Motivation will come from real success stories, testimonials etc.
12. Indian scripts offer symmetry.
All Indian languages united in one
script and one simple learning
Shiva is not an aspiration or a theory.
It is fully developed, consistent,
demonstrable and deployed.
Let us talk about it.
13. Company Profile
