This document announces a new MIPI Touch interface architecture to standardize touch interfaces. It aims to leverage existing MIPI specifications like I3C to optimize for low-power mobile performance and low pin counts. The proposed MIPI Touch architecture would include a standardized command set and software stack to make it OS agnostic. It would support multi-touch, stylus, automotive applications using the MIPI I3C interface which is optimized for speed and power with in-band interrupts. The specification is planned to be finalized in 2017 with an execution plan outlined and a call for participation in the MIPI working group.
