Overview
Skinput is a Bio-acoustic Sensing Technique that allows the body to
be used as an Input Surface.

Transverse Wave Propagation:
Finger Impacts Displace The Skin Creating Transverse Waves

Finger Impacts Create longitudinal(Compressive) waves that
cause internal structures to vibrate. This in turn Creates
longitudinal Wave Forms outwards from the bone towards
skin.

A Wearable Bio-acoustic Sensing Array Built into an Armband. Sensing
Elements detect vibrations transmitted through the body. The two
sensor packages shown above each contain five specially weighted
cantilevered piezo films responsive to a particular frequency range.

Finger Taps on Arm Generated Signals
Variation in Bone Density, Size & Mass as well as filtering
effects from Soft Tissues & Joints Mean Different Locations
that are acoustically distinct.

Designed Software Listens for impacts & Classifies them. Then
Different Interactive Capabilities are bounded on different
regions.

Playing Tetris: Using Fingers Active also in Movable
as Control Pad Environment
Using Fingers,Palms,Arms as Control Any Computing Device Can
be run.Response is real time,robust & remains functional while
walking & Accuracy level is 99.5%()

Output Surface
Using A mobile Phone by Skinput

Graphical Interface processed in Real Time

• Extensive Research is going on Currently on
Skinput to
 make the armband more smaller.
Incorporate More Devices with This System.
Extend accuracy level.
