2. Summary
• My show is a competition-based reality
show that will star 10 drag queens who will
live in a house together for the duration of
the show, which will be around 7 weeks,
until only three queens remain. Queens will
compete in challenges throughout the
competition challenges could vary from
different skills such as sports, trivia, and
challenges that are specific for drag queens
such as makeup Wig styling, and lip-syncing.
Queens will be eliminated by the public (live
vote) and the winner will also be chosen by
the public.
3. What channel will it
air on?
I would plan to air the show on BBC 3 after
the water shed (9pm). I feel like BBC 3 will
be the best option for this type of show as
this is the same channel that RuPaul’s drag
race UK airs on which has seemed to do
quite well on BBC 3 also advertised the
channels return to tv with queens from
DRUK 3.
4. Target
audience
• Since I feel that BBC 3 would be the best channel
for this type of show the target audience would be
between 16-34 as that is the regular target
audience of BBC 3
• Demographic: I would say the main demographic
for this show would be males between the age of
18-25 who are part of the lgbt community
• Psychographics: I feel that the target audience
would fit into the aspirer's category as they are
materialistic, they appreciate image and
appearance, and they are typically younger
people.
• Social grade: I think the social grade of the target
audience would be between D and c1 which would
mean that they are between working class and
lower middle class
5. Why would the target
audience want to watch
• I feel like the target audience would want to watch
this show as it may include queens that the fans are
already familiar with, and they would want to see
more of the queens.
• I also feel like fans would like this type of show as it
would force the queens to have to talk to each other
and be in proximity which could result in lots of
arguments which fans seem to love when it comes
to similar shows for example almost 10 years later
clips of queens arguing with one another are still
going viral on TikTok and twitter of queens arguing
6. When would it air.
• As the show would most likely share the same fanbase as
RuPaul's drag race it would make the most sense to air the show
at a time of year when drag race isn't airing, however due to the
amount of drag race spin off shows(international versions) this
has become increasingly difficult to do. In 2022 a at least one
season was airing every week of the year. Using this information,
I researched what franchises of drag race where the most
popular they are: RuPaul's drag race (USA) which airs between
January and march, RuPaul's drag race all stars (USA) which airs
between May and July and finally RuPaul's drag race Uk which
airs between September and November. using this information,
I would air the season from the end of July to the beginning of
September this would make it easier for younger viewers who
are still in school, college or university to watch.
• The show would also go on air after 9pm to avoid the water
shed as the show may include strong language
7. What shows is it
like?
• It is like RuPaul's drag race in the sense
that it is a competition reality show
starring drag queens however it differs
and the challenges that queens do would
be different.
• The show is also like shows like
big brother as the contestants would live
in a house together and be under
constant surveillance
