Plans for 2023? Album? Mixtape?
I’ve been making music for as long as I remember I started taking things seriously the last 3-4 years.
I’ve always loved music my mom always played music in the house an my dad was a producer. When
I’d go visit my dad I’d always sleep in the studio an listen to whoever he was recording or what beats
he was making. My cousins were making me listen to literally everything growing up as well the crazy
part is this is what my dad always wanted me to do he even named me after a rapper it pretty full
circle when you think about it.
I just dropped my EP “Welcome to the life” in 2022 probably dropping a
deluxe some time mid year we’ll see how everything plays out. I just want
consistent motion all year round.
Where are you from? City or province?
I was born in Mississauga an from there I bounced around a bit but I
ended right back in Mississauga I’m an original peel baby.
Who inspires you in today’s music?
Music is like therapy to me I be going through a lot of shit I just don’t talk about you know. Making music is
therapeutic for me I always loved real music. I used to take my homies phones in school to write bars I’d be bumping
Dave east , the lox, Alicia keys,Kanye , wiz khalifa , fab anything with good music I’d play my cousins was flooding my
ears with music my dad was always bumping nas, fat joe , pun , PAC, Biggie , jay z you etc you name it my dad had
the album. I was just around a crazy musical famiily my cousins were rapping at the time under the name A-game. I
was literally around music being made in my face all the time that’s how I knew I had the ear for it.

After years of building his name in the
underground Houston, TX market, Stoppa
decided to expand his brand into other regions,

10 • HIP HOP MAGAZINE
Q: How long have you been doing music? And what inspired you?
A: I’ve pretty much been doing music my whole life. My mother (RIP) had me taking
piano lessons at 3 years old and also made me join the marching and jazz band in 3rd
grade. The music became a huge part of my life as it was to hers. But I’m from Houston,
Texas so music Is a big part of our culture, If you rap in Houston and don’t know how to
freestyle, you got some work to do. Our culture is based off of freestyle and chopped
& screw music.
Q: Where we’re you born? City you live? or rep?
A: I’m originally born in Chicago, IL but me and my mom moved to the Northside of
Houston with my cousins when I was 2 once my parents got divorced.
Q: Music plans for 2023? What can the people expect? Etc (Album,Mixtape)
A: The plan is to release so much music, singles, collaborations, etc. I’m in a giving mood
and I appreciate that fact that we can release whenever we choose. That’s one of the
beauties of having creative control. We are working on a full length project as well which
will be announced soon. Im excited!
Q: Who or what inspires you musically?
A: Everything and Everybody. I’ve been diving deep into just sounds. Listening to the
frequency of things and reflect on how they make me feel. That can range from
Pharrell’s “Girl” album to Lil Yachty “Poland” song, to Future “712” song I listen to
everything.
Q: Have you experienced any obstacles that you have had to overcome within the
industry?
My whole family is pretty
talented musically.
THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS SIMPLE
11 • HIP HOP MAGAZINE
A: Most definitely, bad business from other artist, labels
taking forever to pay. I could go on but let’s keep the
energy good.
Q: How was your childhood? Was music a big thing in
your family?
A: It was great, my mom was a great singer in college
but stopped pursuing a career in music once she had
me. She put me on all of the greats though, that’s who
she studied so that’s who we listened to. My whole
family is pretty talented musically.
Q: what do you want the fans to take from your
music? (Youth,day ones, family,the world)
A: My goal is to inspire and impact the
people of the world in a great way.
Help people go the extra mile within
themselves to become greater. Wether
that’s in the gym, on the court,
anything performance and self
improvement based. My music is for
those people. I feel like Kobe would’ve
had 3:05 AM Freestyle on repeat.
Overall, I’m here to help people grow
all around while still being champion’d
as one of the greatest artist / people of
our time. Kinda like a team captain. It’s
all about unlocking our potential and
putting it to use.
STOPPA
Q: where can the fans find you (socials networks)
A: Im the most active on instagram @stoppa but check out the website tho
www.stoppaonline.com
Q: when your in the booth do you feel pressure? Do you go into your sessions alone
or with a team?
A: Nah I haven’t yet, Don’t know if I ever will to be honest. Only time will tell. I’m a high level
performer though, I put in the hours and work to become this great. The Greats prepare to
deliver under moments of pressure. The more you practice the more effortless you make shit
look. Ya dig! And for my sessions, majority of the time I’m alone but I do love to collaborate
with others or even just have a beautiful woman in the studio. If I look at her and she vibe’n, I
know the music is good. Women are the best A&R’s
Q: Is there a particular r&b artist signed or unsigned that you’d like to feature with?
A: Definitely Brent Faiyaz, bruh be talking that shit. I fw it lol
Q: Is there anyone you’d like to give a shout to?
A: Just my Mama (RIP) my family and my team over at Hype Now Records. Big Tings
Popping YaYaoo!

Q: what do you want the fans to take from you’re music?

Atelier New Regime is Montreal brand that
has made its mark by creating distinctly
streetwear collections for the modern man.
Much like OTH, ANR has developed into
more than a clothing brand; it has become
an all-encompassing foundation for a
creative and cultural urban community
that allows it to continually push forward.
Recognized for its refined aesthetic and
prominent slogans, the brand prides itself in
representing creative freedom and passion. For
people who ascribe meaning to color, orange
might represent optimism and vitality,
imprisonment or freedom. But the three-
partner ANR team — Setiz Taheri, 33, and
brothers Koku, 26, and Gildas Awuye, 22 —
insist the paint job is not that deep.

ISSUE NO.02
RISING PHOTOGRAPHER
LUCAN COUTTS
Lucan Coutts from Toronto, Ontario has
some amazing work with his brightly
saturated photos and exceptional
compositions. His portfolio is a love letter
to the art of photography and the city.He
uses urban elements like steam and smoke
to highlight pedestrians going about their
lives, neon lights to enhance the mood of
his night photographs, and turning
architecture into abstract art.His work is
genre-defying — straddling the lines
between art, cityscape, and street — but it
is always sensational.
If there’s fog or a snowstorm in Toronto,
there’s a good chance Coutts is downtown
with his camera to get shots.Coutts often
shoots with the same group of friends, a
network of people he’s met through
photography and urban exploration who
double as models on any given night. He
tries to tell a story with every one of his
photos.Coutts says his shoots are inspired
by one main question: what happens after
the workday ends? He takes shots from
rare perspectives—like atop a skyscraper
or construction crane—in search of the
answer.
TORONTO
Coutts took this photo
on a trip to Hong
Kong, He wanted to
capture pedestrians as
small, silhouetted
figures to reflect the
way he feels when he’s
surrounded by
towering skyscrapers
in a sprawling urban
landscape.

VISIONARY
“I was born in Scarborough Ontario, and grew up
most of my life in Pickering. I started shooting in
2017, as I was already running a popular
underground hip-hop blog called BSMNT. I added
videography and directing to my tool belt, already
being an avid writer and podcaster.
I would love to work with new young talented
underground musicians that we can develop into
great artists. My dream would be to shoot for
someone like Future, or Ab-Soul. My favourite artist
to work with still is my brother, Robin Banks.
I use all platforms to put out my music, as I
started producing music in 2022, and dropped
an album with Patrick Carmelo called DRAFT
SEASON, featuring Toronto artists, Why G, Road
Runner, Bizz Loc, Honcho Hoodlum, Buggz,
Robin Banks and many more.”
“I've had to deal with the dark
side of the rap game, as many
might know Toronto is a wild
place. It's all about how you
bounce back from those tough
times.”
BehindTheLens
“I often get a vision when I first
hear the track, but I also come
up with concepts ahead of
time that fit certain artists'
aesthetics. We work with what
we have, and often make
something out of nothing”
”I describe my video style as documentary music
videos. A lot of my videos show the rougher side
of these artists, dealing with the trials and
tribulations of growing as an underground artist in
a city like Toronto. I like to capture where they're
from, their close friends and people, and a vibe
that day that will be an experience for everyone
involved.
My ideal turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks, but
that can also differ between artists and songs.
Length of song matters, and when adding VFX and
other tools to the video, it can bring the
production level higher, but take longer to
complete. Being able to create a piece of art that
the artist is satisfied with is very important, and
sometimes you can't put an exact time frame on
that.
I'm inspired by other videographers and artists
that continue to push boundaries, and show new
tricks. I'm also super inspired when young kids hit
me up saying they've been a fan, and I've inspired
them to pick up a camera, that is super
rewarding.”

The Brampton-based, and self-proclaimed “Peel

Drake had quite the year back in 2022.
Although he was obviously excited about the
shoutout from Drizzy, the Peel Baby decided to
be humble in his blessings. Instead of bragging
and showing off, he’s taking advantage of the
opportunity. His records undeniably bring a
vibe thats a fresh new sound making waves in
the city of Toronto & beyond, from records such
as “Tristan Thompson”“Masterpiece““Matter od
fact” & his “Solid 16s freestyle“ you cannot
count him out.
Make no mistake Bushman is not new too this
industry and is quite familiar with how to
operate, he states in a interview with
welovehiphop that he had been making beat
before he took on rapping. He also mentions
that he had made a beats for some noteable
name. Fast forward to 2023 Bushman quickly
applies pressure by releasing his debut album
titled ‘Canvas’ holding 17 songs in which id say
is a solid album, with songs we find stand out

The world is changing. It’s a new era. Women are boldly
embracing their sexuality and aren’t being shamed for it.
They’re flaunting their bodies and speaking their truths
and for that, they’re applauded. The rise of women being
authentically explicit is here. More than just the social
acceptance they’re receiving, they’re in their bags
because of it. The music industry has always been a male-
dominated place, but in this day and age, women are
making an impact.Paris has been rapping for 6 years, but
it wasn’t until 2 years ago that Paris felt her talent
should be taken more seriously. In her life as an exotic
dancer, Paris was always exposed to big industry hip-hop
names. Being in the studio with icons, such as Lil Wayne,
inspiration and interest began to brew.
In 2014, friend and industry-mentor Joe Louis, put Paris in the
studio to explore making records. The Grenadian/Hawaiian
rapstress hailing from Toronto, Canada has come a long way,
for Paris, music is about the freedom of speech and being able
to speak what’s on her mind. “There’s something empowering,
therapeutic and relaxing about being able to do so”, she says.
She’s still new, still fresh and still learning. Paris is
comfortable with being a student of this craft and learning
something new every single day.Paris now knows there’s a need
for someone like her in the industry – a female rapper that
empowers and uplifts women, who has been through a lot and
can share her story through her music. “So many women can
relate to my story. I just want to tell it and be heard. I’m ready
to be the next Cardi B or Nicki Minaj of Toronto.”

Da Crook delivers his energy-fused music with
those two universal truths in mind. The
prominent Canadian artist, hailing from
Toronto’s west-end, has risen through the ranks
of the country’s new generation of talented
rappers on the come-up, solidifying his spot as
a top lyricist, through vivid releases and
celebrated street anthems like True Story, I

Everybody has different sides to them. I
learned that from my inspirations (like DMX, 50

the day that had substance,” he said.
Through his vivid storytelling and dynamic
delivery, Da Crook has secured himself a solid
fanbase of eager rap fans anticipating his new era
of releases: a reinvention as a more personal,
versatile and evolved artist, yet with the same
unshakable energy that makes him one to watch.
“Everyone knows I’m a lyricist, I want to show them

Golden amber coloured Paradis was created in 1979 by Maurice Fillioux when Hennessy was asked for an 'ultra-prestige' cognac higher in
quality than XO. Everything is there but no one note dominates. Complex with a silky attack, it has length and persistence. Made from 100
different batches, the youngest 25 years old and the eldest from the beginning of the last century (1900, 1910, 1920), it's 85% to 90% from
Grande Champagne.

  • 10. That’s one of the beauties of having creative control.. 10 • HIP HOP MAGAZINE Q: How long have you been doing music? And what inspired you? A: I’ve pretty much been doing music my whole life. My mother (RIP) had me taking piano lessons at 3 years old and also made me join the marching and jazz band in 3rd grade. The music became a huge part of my life as it was to hers. But I’m from Houston, Texas so music Is a big part of our culture, If you rap in Houston and don’t know how to freestyle, you got some work to do. Our culture is based off of freestyle and chopped & screw music. Q: Where we’re you born? City you live? or rep? A: I’m originally born in Chicago, IL but me and my mom moved to the Northside of Houston with my cousins when I was 2 once my parents got divorced. Q: Music plans for 2023? What can the people expect? Etc (Album,Mixtape) A: The plan is to release so much music, singles, collaborations, etc. I’m in a giving mood and I appreciate that fact that we can release whenever we choose. That’s one of the beauties of having creative control. We are working on a full length project as well which will be announced soon. Im excited! Q: Who or what inspires you musically? A: Everything and Everybody. I’ve been diving deep into just sounds. Listening to the frequency of things and reflect on how they make me feel. That can range from Pharrell’s “Girl” album to Lil Yachty “Poland” song, to Future “712” song I listen to everything. Q: Have you experienced any obstacles that you have had to overcome within the industry?
  • 11. My whole family is pretty talented musically. THE SECRET TO SUCCESS IS SIMPLE 11 • HIP HOP MAGAZINE A: Most definitely, bad business from other artist, labels taking forever to pay. I could go on but let’s keep the energy good. Q: How was your childhood? Was music a big thing in your family? A: It was great, my mom was a great singer in college but stopped pursuing a career in music once she had me. She put me on all of the greats though, that’s who she studied so that’s who we listened to. My whole family is pretty talented musically. Q: what do you want the fans to take from your music? (Youth, day ones, family, the world) A: My goal is to inspire and impact the people of the world in a great way. Help people go the extra mile within themselves to become greater. Wether that’s in the gym, on the court, anything performance and self improvement based. My music is for those people. I feel like Kobe would’ve had 3:05 AM Freestyle on repeat. Overall, I’m here to help people grow all around while still being champion’d as one of the greatest artist / people of our time. Kinda like a team captain. It’s all about unlocking our potential and putting it to use.
  • 12. STOPPA Q: where can the fans find you (socials networks) A: Im the most active on instagram @stoppa but check out the website tho www.stoppaonline.com Q: when your in the booth do you feel pressure? Do you go into your sessions alone or with a team? A: Nah I haven’t yet, Don’t know if I ever will to be honest. Only time will tell. I’m a high level performer though, I put in the hours and work to become this great. The Greats prepare to deliver under moments of pressure. The more you practice the more effortless you make shit look. Ya dig! And for my sessions, majority of the time I’m alone but I do love to collaborate with others or even just have a beautiful woman in the studio. If I look at her and she vibe’n, I know the music is good. Women are the best A&R’s Q: Is there a particular r&b artist signed or unsigned that you’d like to feature with? A: Definitely Brent Faiyaz, bruh be talking that shit. I fw it lol Q: Is there anyone you’d like to give a shout to? A: Just my Mama (RIP) my family and my team over at Hype Now Records. Big Tings Popping YaYaoo!

  • 19. ATELIER NEW REGIME 19. Atelier New Regime is Montreal brand that has made its mark by creating distinctly streetwear collections for the modern man. Much like OTH, ANR has developed into more than a clothing brand; it has become an all-encompassing foundation for a creative and cultural urban community that allows it to continually push forward. Recognized for its refined aesthetic and prominent slogans, the brand prides itself in representing creative freedom and passion. For people who ascribe meaning to color, orange might represent optimism and vitality, imprisonment or freedom. But the three- partner ANR team — Setiz Taheri, 33, and brothers Koku, 26, and Gildas Awuye, 22 — insist the paint job is not that deep.
  • 20. URBAN Style 20. It’s a heavy-handed philosophy, inspired, in part, by John Lennon. Beneath the orange jumpsuits models wore shirts emblazoned with the word ‘FREE,’ belying the brand’s optimism. “Even though you’re part of the working class right now doesn’t mean that you’re stuck there forever,” said Gildas. “You can get out through arts or entrepreneurship.”

  • 26. RISING PHOTOGRAPHER LUCAN COUTTS Lucan Coutts from Toronto, Ontario has some amazing work with his brightly saturated photos and exceptional compositions. His portfolio is a love letter to the art of photography and the city.He uses urban elements like steam and smoke to highlight pedestrians going about their lives, neon lights to enhance the mood of his night photographs, and turning architecture into abstract art.His work is genre-defying — straddling the lines between art, cityscape, and street — but it is always sensational. If there’s fog or a snowstorm in Toronto, there’s a good chance Coutts is downtown with his camera to get shots.Coutts often shoots with the same group of friends, a network of people he’s met through photography and urban exploration who double as models on any given night. He tries to tell a story with every one of his photos.Coutts says his shoots are inspired by one main question: what happens after the workday ends? He takes shots from rare perspectives—like atop a skyscraper or construction crane—in search of the answer. TORONTO

  • 31. VISIONARY “I was born in Scarborough Ontario, and grew up most of my life in Pickering. I started shooting in 2017, as I was already running a popular underground hip-hop blog called BSMNT. I added videography and directing to my tool belt, already being an avid writer and podcaster. I would love to work with new young talented underground musicians that we can develop into great artists. My dream would be to shoot for someone like Future, or Ab-Soul. My favourite artist to work with still is my brother, Robin Banks. I use all platforms to put out my music, as I started producing music in 2022, and dropped an album with Patrick Carmelo called DRAFT SEASON, featuring Toronto artists, Why G, Road Runner, Bizz Loc, Honcho Hoodlum, Buggz, Robin Banks and many more.” “I've had to deal with the dark side of the rap game, as many might know Toronto is a wild place. It's all about how you bounce back from those tough times.” BehindTheLens
  • 32. “I often get a vision when I first hear the track, but I also come up with concepts ahead of time that fit certain artists' aesthetics. We work with what we have, and often make something out of nothing” ”I describe my video style as documentary music videos. A lot of my videos show the rougher side of these artists, dealing with the trials and tribulations of growing as an underground artist in a city like Toronto. I like to capture where they're from, their close friends and people, and a vibe that day that will be an experience for everyone involved. My ideal turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks, but that can also differ between artists and songs. Length of song matters, and when adding VFX and other tools to the video, it can bring the production level higher, but take longer to complete. Being able to create a piece of art that the artist is satisfied with is very important, and sometimes you can't put an exact time frame on that. I'm inspired by other videographers and artists that continue to push boundaries, and show new tricks. I'm also super inspired when young kids hit me up saying they've been a fan, and I've inspired them to pick up a camera, that is super rewarding.” Macadelic MACADELIC VIDEOGRAPHY “You can follow me on Instagram at @maccadelic and I appreciate everyone showing love and supporting the movement.”

  • 36. B U S H M A N T O R O N T O The Brampton-based, and self-proclaimed “Peel Baby” artist, Dr. Bushman once Co-Signed By Drake had quite the year back in 2022. Although he was obviously excited about the shoutout from Drizzy, the Peel Baby decided to be humble in his blessings. Instead of bragging and showing off, he’s taking advantage of the opportunity. His records undeniably bring a vibe thats a fresh new sound making waves in the city of Toronto & beyond, from records such as “Tristan Thompson”“Masterpiece““Matter od fact” & his “Solid 16s freestyle“ you cannot count him out. Make no mistake Bushman is not new too this industry and is quite familiar with how to operate, he states in a interview with welovehiphop that he had been making beat before he took on rapping. He also mentions that he had made a beats for some noteable name. Fast forward to 2023 Bushman quickly applies pressure by releasing his debut album titled ‘Canvas’ holding 17 songs in which id say is a solid album, with songs we find stand out such as Trapping like the 80s ,Super OT,YWR and Govy. 2023 is looking promising for the young rising star.
  • 37. P A R I S R I C H A R D S T O R O N T O The world is changing. It’s a new era. Women are boldly embracing their sexuality and aren’t being shamed for it. They’re flaunting their bodies and speaking their truths and for that, they’re applauded. The rise of women being authentically explicit is here. More than just the social acceptance they’re receiving, they’re in their bags because of it. The music industry has always been a male- dominated place, but in this day and age, women are making an impact.Paris has been rapping for 6 years, but it wasn’t until 2 years ago that Paris felt her talent should be taken more seriously. In her life as an exotic dancer, Paris was always exposed to big industry hip-hop names. Being in the studio with icons, such as Lil Wayne, inspiration and interest began to brew. In 2014, friend and industry-mentor Joe Louis, put Paris in the studio to explore making records. The Grenadian/Hawaiian rapstress hailing from Toronto, Canada has come a long way, for Paris, music is about the freedom of speech and being able to speak what’s on her mind. “There’s something empowering, therapeutic and relaxing about being able to do so”, she says. She’s still new, still fresh and still learning. Paris is comfortable with being a student of this craft and learning something new every single day.Paris now knows there’s a need for someone like her in the industry – a female rapper that empowers and uplifts women, who has been through a lot and can share her story through her music. “So many women can relate to my story. I just want to tell it and be heard. I’m ready to be the next Cardi B or Nicki Minaj of Toronto.”

In 2018, on a road trip to visit family in Quebec, he was browsing through beats from his long time friend and producer Thomas Buchanan (aka Tomb) and came up with his first hit single “Scared Of Death” which dropped in May 2019 and has collected over 400,000 streams on Spotify alone. In 2022 he was on the Rolling Loud Toronto festival and had the crowd and fans going nuts! The prominent Canadian artist, hailing from Toronto’s west-end, has risen through the ranks of the country’s new generation of talented rappers on the come-up, solidifying his spot as a top lyricist, through vivid releases and celebrated street anthems like True Story, I Might Just and Dial Tone.“Anyone can relate to me as long as I paint the picture properly.
