1. Evaluation
I feel like having supportive peers and teachers helped me on my journey, this is because I was encouraged by friends and we
often worked together with things like photoshoot, pitches etc. The teachers they always help me stay on track and help me
when it is needed with problems like software and are there to answer any questions. It was useful for me to analyse and have a
look at existing products to see what things I should keep similar and to understand how adverts can change depending on the
target audience and the aim of the advert, it was also useful more me to plan thoroughly about my project because then I and a
better idea on what I wanted to achieve and why, and I had a more detailed vison to show my client what I was trying to achieve
ideally, me planning thoroughly also helps with the process of making my project pieces, helps me put together my envision and
when things don’t go to plan I can easily think of more ideas and problem solve. It's useful for me to experiment with hardware
and software as I get more experience and I have more of an understanding on how to achieve my envision on software’s, me
experimenting on software's helps me long term and is useful because with future projects I will know how to edit faster and be
more efficient. The previous work I did such as the cowboy shoot out improved my filming and editing skills with videography, me
and my friends did this cowboy shoot out video and we all worked together to figure out the angles and then we all decided on a
certain way to edit it to fit the theme , the skills I learnt from this is how to edit videos better and how to edit videos to match
the tone and aesthetic of the video to achieve the aim and how to properly use a camera to video and practically using each
camera angle and shots. The elements I have improved is my editing skills and my organisational skills, I am now able to edit
more efficiently to achieve the ideal finished product and being able to problem solve. With the feedback that I have received I
have analysed it and then applied it to my future work, and either justified why I did the thigs I did with my work with valid
reasons or agreed and to apply it to my future work. In regards to setbacks and amend ideas, when there was setbacks like my
model being ill and having to post pone my photoshoot, I had to complete work ahead of time so when she got back I wouldn’t
be behind, and when I did my plan my ideas turned out different when the original photos turned out the way they did, with one
of my photos I had the ideas of turning the bottle into some sort of ‘devil’ but because of the purple/white lighting it was hard
for me to turn the background red.
2. Research – Clients, existing products,
audience, how and why and screenshots
I did my client research deeply, using their past campaigns and using online
materials to search into what my client does and what are their values. I
analysed my clients past campaigns, taking some of their prints and
analysing them , I researched into the campaigns to find out what their
target was etc and what I wanted top do differently to fit the brief. I wanted
to analyse the client and their past campaigns etc because I wanted to know
what similarities are between hem and what they expect, I wanted to keep
the same tone and some similarities while having a sense of originality to my
brief. Its been useful to research, next time I would do more primary
research about my client instead of secondary research, this means that id
get more of the target audience involved as well and get their knowledge on
the client themselves.
3. Audience
I gathered the audience research by doing things like surveys on Google
Forms and focus groups to get a understanding on the target audience, to do
the focus group I gathered a bunch of people who fit the target audience and
prepared loads of questions based off my survey and asked them the
questions, I than analysed the results I got from the focus group and
recorded it also, this was useful as I used primary research to get a bigger
understanding on what to do for my advert and the interests etc of my target
audience. When it comes to my audience research etc, I prefer the qualitive
answers more than the quanitive, this is because if there is loads of plain and
not helpful answers this wont help me form an idea or form a ideal target
candidate, answers with quality allow to create a more diverse target
audience and to have an understanding.
4. Drafts and experimentation
It was good to do different drafts for my project as I was able to experiment
and have a better understanding of the software. Me having drafts allowed
me to creatively experiment more which what I thought looked better and
let me get more ideas and problem solve if something isn’t working out, this
is useful as I need these skills in the future for a media career and shows that
I tried ands thought about my final piece more. From my drafts, I improved
with the lighting and the creative ability in my prints, this means that I
moved away from the original drafts with the experimentation. As I was
experimenting more, I was using a various amount of different fonts and
styles to see what fit the best and to achieve the tone that I want, this was
useful as I had much more creative freedom and was abit to see what my
preference was with the fonts etc. Some of my drafts and fonts I used didn’t
work out becauye it didn’t fit the tone etc so I had to change it
5. Final Products
For my final products, I analysed the products that were for my final, this was useful as I
saw things that I needed to improve next time and what I needed to fix. While analysing
my final work, I used fancy terms work, and I then link my final pieces to the client and the
brief, this is useful as it shows others that I have stuck to the brief and the requirements
and how I did it in my own way to create originality. I linked my final pieces back to the
target audience and how I included the target audience in the process, including the target
audience and brief in my process is useful because I had a guideline to follow ands the
target audience let me come up ideas that might adhere to that age etc. I think my final
products are good because I went through and stuck with the brief and target audience,
did the research and applied that to my final pieces, I also did experiments and drafts
which allowed me to problem solve and gain skills while also getting the ideal final piece of
all my prints and radio. The improvements I could make is to show more of my
experiments and drafts to show that there was a development and improvement with each
one and an analysis. The skills I developed is my editing skills and also my ability to
organise my work and be more independent with myself. I have learnt the role of editor
mainly and also a little bit of creative director because of the drafts and experiments and
having my own personal opinion on the final pieces.
