- The export industry in Bangladesh has been severely impacted by COVID-19, with exports reducing by $3 billion in 2020 and global trade projected to drop significantly.
- To revive exports, the document proposes increasing automation through artificial intelligence, implementing a blockchain-based supply chain system, and developing affiliate networks and a hardware industry.
- Specifically, it suggests using AI to automate production processes, adopting Industry Transformation policies for the RMG sector involving automation and outsourcing, and establishing a transparent supply chain management system through blockchain technology.

2. Reviving Exports
Export industry undergone direct aggression of Covid19 and resulting in tremendous monetary
shortage, financial instability, and inevitable economic fluctuations, thus affecting in export
sector. The post pandemic policies for rescaling and revitalization of export industry is crucial
and immensely momentous. According to BGMEA, the export during 2020 first cohort reduced
or cancelled worth of 3 billion USD while WTO fears that the global trade of goods will drop by
13% to 32%, depending on the severity and duration of pandemic. [ref 1] In this industrial
standstill and retardation, we should be prepared for its uprising opposite momentum of scarcity
once circumstances come to a steady wave. Our policies and approaches would focus into
strategic advantage, digital transformation, Ai based automation and blockchain based supply
chain to produce, promote and distribute as per export concernment. Thus, these would lead up
to the higher profit margin.
Artificial Intelligence BasedAutomation: Ai is the future of automation at scale with 0 human
interaction throughout raw materials processing to production distribution which is highly [ref 2]
promising in the context of infectious covid19. Thus, it would allow industries to produce 14%
more goods as per demand increase. Fully autonomous Ai powered system would replace around
40% of directly work-force [ref 3] but would create tech-based sector of possible employment
and maintenance. Here is how Ai could transform the autonomous industry and why we might
consider -
The developed AI system by reputed software companies would be highly scalable and
export ready software products. According to IDC, the Ai spending would rise to 98
Billion dollars by 2023. [ref 4] Proved to be a tremendous possibility of software export
door.
Moreover, developed software would help local industries produce 2x/3x more consumer
products compared to the previous production index.
Ai powered industry solution would create simple task-based employment for workers –
which will be easy to complete and require very less training. Thus, would increase the
immediate job circulation practicability.
Industry Transformation for RMG: Under Industry Transformation for RMG (ITRMG)
policy, government would prepare a guideline for existing 5000 RMG industries [ref 5] to
undertake few automatic processes and business process outsourcing (BPO) to step forwards
towards digital transformation of this sector. The high potentiality and rigorous benefit in the
long run would cover up the initial digitalization cost and would prepare RMG as a Future Ready
Industry.
RMG would incorporate BPO, distributed resource planning and blockchain based
factory management for day to day repetitive tasks for employees which would ensure
better service and working condition for both ends.
Automatic equipment and recycling tools would get a slight tax cut off around 5-8% –
which would encourage industry stake holders to move forwards towards automation
faster.
3. Blockchain based Supply Chain and Management (BSCM): Trust and credibility is the
driving force in export sector. Where blockchain based order, claim, report, delivery, legal
procedures, and maintenance procurement would earnestly diversify the context of digital
delivery and transparency at ease. Therefore, I'm suggesting blockchain based supply chain and
management system for this sector. Where -
Real time and secure communication, legal disclosure, management, agreement,
maintenance would get a pace of tracking and immediate response from a central and
distributed hybrid system.
Real time tracking of shipments, payment status and issue of debentures would be
ensured and monitor in transparent and reliable way using this technology.
Affiliation BasedForeign Buyer Network Development: Buyers and their affiliated partner
organizations plays a vital role in a consistent business relationship and product order. Thus,
government would focus into affiliate commission-based buyer connection network to achieve a
chain-based buyer-supplier relationship and reliability for long term partnership and business. A
successful affiliate network creates a win-win situation for all parties involved. Many
organizations might dip their toe in to explore a secondary source of income, or they may go all
in, with the goal of seeing their affiliate network become a primary income stream. However,
this formidable business formation would assist in thriving our export industry by 27%. [ref 6]
Emergence Hardware Industry: One of the tricky policies in this sector would be developing
an electronic hardware industry for global export. The strategy is very simple – what you can’t
build easily, just copy others and then try to renovate on top of it. As china leading the hardware
industry for decades, with alliance to our government’s 5 Billion Dollar ICT export plan,
hardware industry would give a blow in national and international market. Where –
We would focus on minimal hardware products and e-material production such as
headphones, adapters, battery, wires, screens, and integrated circuit production. This is
highly feasible for SME and self-managed businesses.
Self-dependent hardware industry would perceive our independency in cybersecurity and
cyber-physical pervasive network development for communication and business. Thus,
would ensure export and convenience profit.
In addition of meeting our domestic need, a sustainable and viable industry is adjuvant
for our economy and trading relationship with alliance countries. Flourishment of small
medium enterprises and social business would benefit from this distributed simple task-
based industry origination.
