Automation?
It involves introducing a
degree of computerized or
automatic control over
various home appliances
such as Fans, Lights, TV etc.,
in our home.
Home automation can be
done by various methods
such as By GSM modules,
Bluetooth module, IOT etc.,
In this presentation we are
going in detail about Home
Automation using IOT.
4. What is IOT?
Internet of Things (IOT) is
an ecosystem of connected
physical objects that are
accessible through the
internet.
The ‘thing’ in IOT could be
a person with a heart monitor
or an automobile with built-
in-sensors.
The embedded technology
in the objects helps them to
interact with internal states
or the external environment,
which inturn affects the
decisions taken.

7. Home Automation(HA) using IOT
Switching devices ON/OFF using a internet enabled
smart phone or a computer in order to reduce the wastage
of current flow.
The devices in the homes are depicted on the web pages
with user interfaces through which the state of the device
can be changed by the user.
For that we want to connect the sensors for which we want
to control so that by the help of them we can control what
ever device we want.
For example : TV, Fan, Lights, Washing machines etc.,
8. Why using IOT for HA?
The existing systems could not over come the problem of
large data handling.
The time delay is much greater.
It will be used to a short range or it will be a complex
circuitry.
We can overcome all these problems using IOT.

We can open the web
server page which allows
us to monitor and control
the systems. In this
system we have used
HTML page to control
remotely.

Hence IOT is going to be a revolution in the next 5
years.
In the next five-year span between 2015 and 2020, the
Internet of Things will grow faster than any other
category of connected devices, according to a new
Cisco report, driving global IP traffic.
It is expected that approximately 50billion IOT devices
are going to be connected by 2020
we can turn the lights off.
Activating the security system.
Locking the front door.
Adjusting the thermostat or Temperature.
Turning the TV off and many.
There are various techniques to control home appliances such as IOT based home automation over the cloud, home automation under WiFi through android apps from any smartphone, Arduino based home automation, home automation by android application based remote control, home automation using digital control, RF based home automation system and touch screen based home automation.
GSM technology which sends information in the form of SMS is being widely used.
Home automation using android applicaions are being implemented
First all the sensors are attached to the Intel Galileo board.
And then the board is connected to the internet through wifi.
When the connection is established it will start reading the sensor values say P1, P2,P3….
The user sets a threshold value for each sensor that is T1, T2, T3….
The sensor data is sent to the web server and stored in the cloud. The data can be analyzed anywhere and at any time.
If the sensor parameters P1,P2,P3… are greater than the threshold levels then respective alarm a1, a2, a3… will be raised and required actuation is done.
For example, if the temperature exceeds the threshold level then the cooler will turn on automatically and it will off when the temperature comes to normal.
The user can control and monitor the system in a web server page.To open the web server page just enter the ip address that was generated when the Intel Galileo board connected the network. Here they have used the HTML page to control remotely.
Here all the required data is stored in the cloud (Gmail).The stored data can be analyzed at anytime & anywhere by the user when away from home.
Like this the user can control and monitor his home with the help of Internet of things.
