4. Yuri gagarin
Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (photo)
became the first human to travel into
outer space and perform the first
manned orbital flight in Vostok 1 on April
12, 1961.
5. Con………
The flight, at a mere 108 minutes from
launch to landing, gave the Soviet Union a
longer lead in the Space Race.
The craft carried ten days worth of
provisions in case the engines failed and
Gagarin was required to wait for the orbit to
naturally decay, but they were
unnecessary. Gagarin re-entered Earth's
atmosphere, experiencing forces up to
eight times the pull of gravity, but remained
consciousness.
6. Appolo-11
Apollo 11 was
the spaceflight that landed the first
humans on the Moon, Americans Neil
Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, on July 20,
1969.
Armstrong became the first to step onto
the lunar surface six hours later on July
21
7. Alan shepard
Alan Shepard was the first American in
space and the second person in space,
launching on a suborbital flight in a
Mercury capsule called Freedom 7 on
May 5, 1961 — just three weeks after
Gagarin's flight.
8. ROBOTIC SPACECRAFT
A robotic spacecraft is a spacecraft with
no humans on board, usually
under telerobotic control. A robotic
spacecraft designed to make scientific
research measurements is often called
a space probe. Many space missions are
more suited to telerobotic rather
than crewed operation, due to lower cost
and lower risk factors. In addition, some
planetary destinations such as Venus or
the vicinity of Jupiter are too hostile for
human survival, given current technology
9. APPOLO - 9
Apollo 9 was the third manned mission in
the united states Appolospace program and
the first flight of the Command/Service
Module (CSM) with the Lunar Module (LM). Its
three-person crew, consisting of
Commander jamesmc divitt, Command
Module Pilot david scott, and Lunar Module
Pilo rusty schweickart, tested several aspects
critical to landing on the Moon, including the
LM engines, backpack life support systems,
navigation systems, and docking maneuvers.
The mission was the second manned launch
of a Saturn v rocket
