1. Does God want ALL
to be saved?
1 Timothy 2:3-4
3 For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires
all men to be saved and to come to
the knowledge of the truth.
2. IF / SINCE
God wants all to be saved. 1 Timothy 2:4
All will not be saved.
Matthew 7:13-14 Narrow way to life, few find it
Matthew 7:21-23 Not all who call on His name
Can God save everyone, if He wants to?
If all will not be saved – Which is it?
God can't save all men.
God really does not want to save everyone.
3. God's Will
Decretive Will – The decrees (commands,
rules, laws) of God
Emotional Will – What God wishes, desires,
seeks, wants
Does the decree of God overrule His desire?
What is the problem with saving all men?
Did God predetermine that some would be
saved and others lost?
Did Jesus die for all men?
4. God's Will
There is a weakness to this line of questions
and logic.
We must reason (think, use logic) the way God
reasons.
God wanted Israel to obey the 10
Commandments.
He also gave punishments for those who
violated those commands.
5. God's Will
God knows, in His infinite foreknowledge, that
some will be lost.
With knowlege that they would not chose to
obey Him, He created them anyway.
Does God act against His own will?
He wants men to be saved – He has the power
to save – But many will be lost.
How do we solve this problem?
6. God's Will
There are 2 wills of God.
God has made a decree.
His desire will not void His decree.
Ezekiel 18:23 Do I have any pleasure at all that
the wicked should die?" says the Lord God,
"and not that he should turn from his ways and
live?
But God has decrees.
7. God's Will
1 John 3:23 And this is His commandment:
that we should believe on the name of His
Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as
He gave us commandment.
Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God
overlooked, but now commands all men
everywhere to repent,
God has decreed – faith, love, repentance
8. Man's Choice
God wants husbands to love their wives –
Ephesians 5:25
Not all husbands love their wives.
This is not the fault of God or His power.
It is man who violates the decree of God.
9. Man's Choice
Matthew 23:37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the
one who kills the prophets and stones those
who are sent to her! How often I wanted to
gather your children together, as a hen gathers
her chicks under her wings, but you were not
willing
Jesus desired for them to come to Him
They were not willing – their choice
10. Man's Choice
Free moral agent = Man was given the freedom
to choose good or evil, right or wrong,
obedience or rebellion.
The gospel is preached to all men
God wants all to believe, repent, and obey
Most men will choose to reject the offer.
11. Your Choice
You are free today. You can choose.
God wants you to believe, repent, and obey His
commands for baptism, worship, moral life, and
work in His vineyard.
As we sing the song of invitation, you have that
choice.
God wants you to be saved. It is up to you.
