DO WE NEED RIGHT SKILLS
OR THE RIGHT PERSON?
BACKGROUD
• University of Helsinki DataSupport core staff:
• Library: 6 persons full-time + 8 part time
• IT department: 3 persons full-time
• We have trained our staff the skills needed in RDM services
since 2012.
• Every year we have got new members to our RDM team.
• The knowledge about the necessary skills grows gradually.
• It is still difficult to explain to the university administration
what skills we need.

BACKGROUD • University of Helsinki DataSupport core staff: • Library: 6 persons full-time + 8 part time • IT department: 3 persons full-time • We have trained our staff the skills needed in RDM services since 2012. • Every year we have got new members to our RDM team. • The knowledge about the necessary skills grows gradually. • It is still difficult to explain to the university administration what skills we need.   • 6. ANALYSIS METHOD • The skills were categorised to main groups. • During categorisation, we calculated how many times a skill was mentioned. • The result was translated into English.
