Many hands make light
work.
Rugged rowing
No member of a crew is
praised for the rugged
individuality of his rowing.
What is team building
The work you do alone can only take you so
far. It's a team that brings you to the finish
line. Although teamwork can - at times - be
challenging, it's almost always more than
worth it.
Why team building
People tend to have narrow focus on
parts of the problem and fail to have
the overall picture of a project. Also
should be noted that some people
have a tendency to present things in
such a way to make it look more
complicated than it actually is - either
due to their own confused thoughts or
to sound important and indispensable
Why is team building is important?
Team building is important for the
purpose of promoting progress and
achieving better efficiency. Team
building can bring team members
closer so that they can learn to
cooperate with one another at the
best level!
What is team?
In a team,
 People depend on each
other;
 May or may not work in the
same physical location,
 Combine to achieve
something together
Team Building
The process of working with a
team to clarify its task and how
team members can work together
to achieve it.
A strategy that can help groups to
develop into a real team is “team
building”
Team Building
“You Americans have caught
on to our secret of
productivity in Japan– teams!
But we will still win. You think
all you need to do is to put
people together in groups
and something will happen.
We know that’s only the
beginning.”
-- President of Matsushita
Key actions in
Team Building

and standards
Involving the team as a whole in the
achievement of objectives

Stages of
Team Growth
 Stage I: Forming - Provide clear direction to establish the
team’s purpose, setting goals, etc.,
 Stage II: Storming – Provide strong, hands-on leadership to
keep people talking and task-focused
 Stage III: Norming – Codes of behaviour becomes established
and an identifiable group culture emerges. People begin to
enjoy each other’s company and appreciate each other’s
contributions
 Stage IV: Performing – Teams that reach this stage achieve
results easily and enjoyably. People work together well and can
improve systems, solve problems and provide excellent
customer service.
 Stage V: Adjourning – Temporary project team reaches this
stage; celebrate their team’s achievements.

We moved ourselves anew, and
vowed to more forward together.
My fellow Americans, we are made
for this moment and we will seize it,
so long as we seize it together.
