                         Make One get Three

CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI, LPIC-1 and SUSE CLA

CompTIA, SUSE and the Linux Professional Institute have announced an
international partnership to standardize their entry-level Linux certification programs
to the LPIC-1 standard.

The CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI course has been revised and now contains an
appendix that includes additional content to cover LPI exam requirements. This
means that the new revised course now covers the SUSE CLA, LPIC-1 and
CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI exams.

Candidates looking to take any of these three entry-level Linux certifications can
now attend CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI courses to prepare for all three
certification exams. Candidates can also effectively obtain all three certifications by
taking only two exams (CompTIA Linux+ Powered by LPI), and then applying for
both the LPI and SUSE CLA certifications. See also:

Complete the programs in this order:

   1) CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI

   2) LPIC-1

   3) SUSE CLA

At the start of each test (LX0-101 and LX0-102), CompTIA will ask you, the
test-taker, if you would like to have the score report forwarded to LPI to count
towards the LPIC-1 certification. You should check Yes for both options, since
passing the two CompTIA Linux+ exams will automatically qualify you for the Linux
Professional Institute’s LPIC-1 certification.

                                                                                          1

Step 1 - Register as a candidate with LPI. This is free. You will be assigned an LPI
ID number. Complete this step before you take the CompTIA Linux+ exams.

Step 2 - Schedule your CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI exams.

Step 3 - At the beginning of each exam, make sure to select Forward My Scores To
LPI. LPI will be notified quickly, but it will take approximately two days after you
pass the exam for CompTIA to award the CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI
certification and for LPI to send a notice of LPIC-1 certification.

Step 4 - Go to the SUSE / Novell registration form at:

http://practicum.novell.com/LPI2CLAForm.php.

You will need your LPI ID and other information that you can find in the LPI
Candidate Area. Fill out the form. Once you hit Submit, you will immediately receive
a welcome email. It can take up to two days until you will be able to see the new
certification at the Novell site.

By passing two CompTIA Linux+ powered by LPI exams, you qualify to receive
three Linux Certifications.
