I'm an Associate Professor of Astronomy (WRF Data Science Term Chair) at the University of Washington and a Senior Data Science Fellow at the UW eScience Institute.
My research focuses on computational and data analysis aspects of astronomy, astrophysics, and science in general. I'm interested in methods and software that enable the use of large scientific datasets to solve experimental and theoretical problems. In astrophysics, my current focus is the formation, structure, and evolution of the Milky Way.
