Greetings MRA members and fans!
Welcome to the 2016 season. First and foremost thanks for re-electing me to another
term as your President. There is nothing I want more than to see the MRA and our
members be successful. To that end I’m pleased to announce that we have several
new people joining us to lead the organization this year. Please join me in welcoming:
Brett Leveque is our new VP of Rules and Tech. Brett joins the board after
being a racer in our club for a couple of seasons. In addition to wanting to
contribute to the club he brings with him years of experience as a crew member
for a professional auto racing team.
Rick Grosse is our Track Marshal. If you’ve been around the track any time
in the past decade you’ve probably seen Rick around. His better half, Jen Jen,
is our Secretary. He’s been involved on the periphery of the operation for years
and last year stepped up as our equipment manager. This year he takes his
commitment a step further by formally joining the board.
Jason “Hammer” Madama has taken over as our rider rep in charge of Public
Relations. He comes with a wealth of graphic design experience and the mindset
of a rider and racer, which makes him an ideal rider representative.
Wrapping up our new board members is Treasurer Laci Lukachy. Laci brings
thirteen years' experience in financial institution management.
2015 was a year full of challenges. We all had to face the very real loss of a dear
friend. “Hot Carl” races on in our memories, on our bikes and in our hearts.
We’ve created a traveling award that will go to the winner of the Thunderbike
class each year going forward. The first winner of the award, Jon Glaefke,
battled Carl for the first ever Thunderbike championship and continues to race
that class today. We look forward to that competition in 2016. Next to that
the other challenges look small, but weather at the first round certainly put
a damper on the beginning of the season, but we bounced back and forged
forward to an outstanding series.
2016 is shaping up to be a great year – sure, we will have challenges but I’ve
been working hard with the rest of the board to assure that we have another
great year of competition and camaraderie.
