According to the Office of the National Economic and
Social Development Board, the construction industry’s
value add at constant prices declined by 12.4%, from
THB26.2 billion (US$852.8 million) in the first quarter of
2013 to THB22.9 billion (US$727.1 million) in the first
quarter of 2014.
In real value-add terms, the industry contracted by 8.5%
annually in the fourth quarter of 2013, following a decline
of 2.2% in the third quarter of 2013.
During the first quarter of 2014, total private
investments in construction declined by 7.8% from the
same period in 2013, and by 4.6% during the fourth
quarter of 2013.
In addition, total public investments declined by 17.1%
in the first quarter of 2014 and by 13.2% in the fourth
quarter of 2013.
